ATA device is not working - grandstream HT-286

Post by mtrade »

Hi, I received my pre-configured ATA package from fongo ( grandstream HT-286), setup is done, but the phone doesn't work. the button on the ATA is flashing RED. my friend say it's internet connection problem, I am using voip phone from AIC, I did a few test to figure out what could be wrong. I am thinking it's the problem with the ATA adapter.

1) the internet signal from the router should be no issue, as my computer is able to get wifi connection. my existing voip phone is working fine (via cable to router).
2) the Fongo cable between ATA adapter and router should be no issue, as I use the same cable for my existing voip phone, it`s working fine.

What should I do now, I will call customer service tomorrow. if the ATA is able to get internet connection, I can not do anything, Can you replace the ATA adapter with a good one. I think the ATA device is not working.

We hand test after ATA in the office after it's configured to guarantee that outbound and inbound calls function, so I'm thinking this might be something with the network setup. If you dial *** then 02 on the attached phone does it give an IP address? A red blinking light usually means the device isn't getting an IP.

Have you forwarded the required ports for Fongo to the ATA? The light will flash if the device cannot connect to Fongo.

Plug in a phone to the connected ATA and it there is no dial tone press ***. You should then hear an error message:
E101E Ethernet link down
E102E No IP address obtained (DHCP or PPPoE mode)
E103E Device is not registered to SIP server
E104E No STUN responses

Perhaps that will help us

As well as the information from the other posts, if you have your other VOIP set up at the same time, I am sure that the two are conflicting! The Fongo-configured one is probably trying to use the same ports as the other one that you already have, as the pre-configured stuff comes out with standard/default settings ... which are usually the same standard/default that OTHER similar devices would have.

Try the other solutions ... and if that is not it, look to see if your two VOIP devices are clashing ...

Sometimes

Sometimes these things DO just resolve themselves ... whether it is an upstream ISP redoing a DNS server or a bad cache being flushed/renewed somewhere, all sorts of weird things happen by themselves sometimes! ;-) End result is positive, keep the suggestions in mind in case it breaks down again!
