Incoming Calls going right to VM
Hello,
I have a problem where incoming calls go straight to my voicemail. If I reset the router and ATA it will temporarily fix the problem, however within a day or so it usually goes back to this problem.
I suspect this may be a problem with my ATA or router settings, as I also had this problem when I was with another VOIP provider (using the same hardware).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds like your ATA is not keeping it's registration. Have you got all the right ports forwarded to the ATA, and set the ATA with a static IP?
Depending on your ATA you may be able to help this problem by reducing the registration time down to 60 seconds.
Can you post a bit more about your setup? Router and ata type, ISP, etc.

Re: Incoming Calls going right to VM
Router is a D-link DIR-655
ATA is a Linksys SPAS-2102
ISP is tekSavvy (DSL)
How do I find out if my port are forwarded to the ATA?
I'm assuming I set the ATA with a static IP, and then forward the ports on the router to that IP address? Sorry, this is fairly new to me.

What model router do you have? Need an idea what you are working with. some routers just do not cut it for SIP VOIP.

Have you disabled SIP ALG?

Re: Incoming Calls going right to VM
It doesn't sound like it is the issue here, but I'll post this in case others are searching and finding this thread for their symptoms.
I just setup FPL and it was working great for half a day, then all calls were going straight to vm. Tried all kinds of things (including setting up the 2nd line of my PAP2T ATA to another provider, which worked fine). I then compared setting between line 1 and line 2 and found the only setting that was different was something called DND which was set to yes on my FPL account. Turned this off and my problem was solved. Turns out this setting can be toggled from the phone by dialing *78. I'm not 100% sure what this does, but I'm guessing it is Do Not Disturb (DND). I guess I had tried *78 when I was trying to remember the sequence to get to voicemail to configure my greeting.

When DND is active, no incoming call will ring your phone...calls will go straight to voicemail...no amount of resetting the router and ATA will fix any incoming call to ring your phone...even for just a second...never mind a day or so!

Re: Incoming Calls going right to VM
This may seem obvious, but have you checked number of rings on your account online? Sometimes when its set to 1 ring, it'll skip the ring entirely and just go to voicemail. This isn't a frequent issue, but one worth checking anyways.

this is a very common occurrence. Even with a POTS line, when making a call, you will regularly hear at least one full ring before the destination receives any kind of notification (ring from their phone) indicating there is an incoming call.

Re: Incoming Calls going right to VM
When its working, I get 4 full rings before it goes to voicemail, so I don't think this is the case. Also, when it is going to straight to VM, I've called my home phone from my cell, and there is no ringing on my cell, it forwards right to VM.FONGO_dom wrote:This may seem obvious, but have you checked number of rings on your account online? Is your cell one of the numbers in the follow-me section? If so, this may cause this behavior ... not sure if there was a follow-me issue involved or mentioned, but I have noticed in my own testing, that calling FROM a number that is a FOLLOW-ME number seems to have mixed results at best...zedman wrote:When its working, I get 4 full rings before it goes to voicemail, so I don't think this is the case. No its not listed as a follow-me #. I have this problem when calling from other phones as well (ie. wifes cell, work phone, etc.)TheHardy wrote:Is your cell one of the numbers in the follow-me section? For the past few days I'm actually having a problem where it won't even go to VM. I either get a busy signal, or it just drops the call before anything rings....weird

Re: Incoming Calls going right to VM
Hmmm, very odd. I would definitely seek some input from Customer Service and get them to start a ticket in this.
In another thread, we are having a discussion about long silence, calls not going to VM either, dealing with just the FPL softphone tho, not thru an ATA.

Re: Incoming Calls going right to VM
I think I may have fixed the problem.
It appears as though the program CSIP on my android cell phone was causing problems with the home phone. I've had it disabled on my cell phone for the past 2 days, and everything has been working perfectly fine. Its odd because it didn't cause me any problems when I used it before, but disabling it seems to have done the trick.
Fingers crossed!

Re: Incoming Calls going right to VM
Sometimes the simple solutions are the best ... BEFORE and NOW are two different things ... just like the DV PC app USED to work with JAVA and NOW doesn't ... until you rollback to an older version ....
