Hi,
I have purchased a FPL unlock key and was happily using it with fring until I updated to the latest version, now each time I dial a number it adds +1 automatically even if removed it manually. Therefore, when I dial it now tells me: the call is not covered by your "tarif" plan. Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks and best regards,
Nick

Re: Fring adding +1 to my dialed number
The issue appears to be from their side. My suggestion would be to check to see if there are options to remove the 1. It might also be a good idea to call their support to see if they know how to resolve this. freephoneline is not the only company that does not take ones.

Re: Fring adding +1 to my dialed number
Dom: are you sure about this? I know that the ATA might be different, but for the PC softphone, it does not (according to Steve!) matter if we dial 11D or 10D, as the "system" strips/adds as needed ...FONGO_dom wrote:The issue appears to be from their side. That said, I did have an occasion where I was out of town with my laptop using hotel wifi, and I had repeated failures as 11D and completed successfully as 10D.
I cannot quite search and find the original post that I had on on this and Steve's reply, but I remember that it was stated that 10D/11D should NOT make a difference ...
Either way, why is it that 10D/11D cannot be properly parsed and interpretted by Fongo? It is not rocket science after all ...
AND -- for that matter, incoming caller ID is not uniform either, sometimes it is 10D and sometimes 11D ... ?????

Re: Fring adding +1 to my dialed number
I will have to look into it further when Steve is in next. I was referring mostly to the "Used to work, then stopped working after the update" thing. It may be connecting oddly with our sip servers... I have heard of issues with dialing a 1 before, not sure if they were resolved.

Re: Fring adding +1 to my dialed number
Found the thread, most of the info went in a PM to Steve ....
http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 752#p27752
Quoting back from the PM back from Steve (23 May 2012):
"I've still taken a look through some logs, in an attempt to try and understand what caused this. The good thing is that the trouble doesn't appear to be on our side - the calls travelled through our network and were sent out to the carrier used to terminate them. It appears as though the trouble came back from the downstream carrier - and that's about as much as I can tell from my side."
.... and .... in a follow up (24 May 2012):
"On our side we do handle number translation before it's sent out to the carrier to ensure that all numbers are parsed into an accepted format regardless of how we receive them from the end user (with or without 1, etc.)."
It is the last one that is the important part. I can forward you that specific PM from Steve, if this is required.
Again, this was in specific regards to me using the PC FPL softphone app and having an issue completing calls 11D (which is how I have them stored in my contacts), versus dialing them from the keypad as 10D ... there was some more information in the PM's as well, as Steve went and looked at the specific call logs...

Re: Fring adding +1 to my dialed number
Hi,
I have noticed if I pick an phone number from my call log before the mandatory +1 it work since it seems it adds the 1 during the time you enter the phone number. I have opened a ticket on fring support but no replies yet.
It would be nice if FPL would have a work arround for the added +1.
Best regards,

Okay --- let me ask this, as I think I may be confused ....Nickvoip wrote:Hi,

is it adding "1" or "+1" ???
The Fongo setup seems to be pretty strict (at least the softphone) on what you can stuff into the dial window ...
It is okay with dashes (-), but does not like any other character (periods . spaces underscores _ ) or even braces/parenthesis () around area codes. This causes editting when cutting and pasting into the dial window.
As you are using the ATA, or seemingly so, it should not be a problem to strip the "+" if that is what is causing you grief .... as for the "1" itself, see my post -- the network is supposed to handle that.

Re: Fring adding +1 to my dialed number
Hi,
When I am using the ATA device works good.
It's while using Fring software on an Iphone it added the +1. You are right it not 1 but +1. Even if I dial 1 514 555 5555, it would convert it to +1 1 514 555 5555. What is weird is that I can select my old phone numbers without the +1 from the call log before the upgrade and it would dial correctly.
I wish they would revert those code changes in Fring software.
Do know what other SIP app works correctly with FPL?
Best regards and thank you for your time,

Re: Fring adding +1 to my dialed number
Ah yes, okay ... now it makes more sense. While it would be nice to get FRING to fix their stuff, a concurrent request to Fongo to handle other symbols in their dial string translation may not be a bad idea either ... good luck on pursuing this with FRING and let us know how you make out!
FONGO:
as per this request, please allow the leading "+" symbol to be correctly send and translated (stripped) by your servers....
and while you are at it, please allow spaces ( ), periods (.), parenthesis/braces ( () ) and underscores (_) to be sent and stripped also ... especially at softphone level, even if it is done by INTERNAL coding when the bugfixes are finally applied to the softphones!
Thanks!
