Do you mean FPL to DellVoice? (or visa-verse) If so yes, there is a 25$ porting fee though.
I can't see why they would want to port from FPL to FPL.

$25 port charge for a better number is cheaper than another config file, if that is what is being attempted ....Jake wrote:Do you mean FPL to DellVoice? (or visa-verse) If so yes, there is a 25$ porting fee though.

Or perhaps changing area codes on a config file?
Just a loose/casual observation....

Re: Port FPL to FPL?
Interesting. I'm not sure how FPL will see this, as it is not really a port, it is an account transfer. Unlike with DV they can't claim that it is run by a different sub company.
If your friend is just wanting to replace their old bought number with a new number I think the request would have to be passed to someone who is willing to go the extra mile for members (like Steve) as I am sure they will get a response that it can't be done from most of the guys you call into. I could always be wrong of course.
You are going to have to get your friend to call in. I can't recall this ever coming up in the forum before. Make sure you let us know how it went. At worse you could port your number to DV, then back to FPL, but then you might as well just pay for a new config file. To be honest, I think I would just buy a new config file anyway - buts that's just me.

Re: Port FPL to FPL?
You haven't said as much, but are you talking about changing a paid config number for another free number that has been picked up on another account?seagame2001 wrote:I think FPL to FPL should be free
I think the admin cost would be quite high if they let people change their numbers all the time. If there was an automated way of doing it then maybe put a time restriction on it like Telus does (max every 3 month). If they have to do it manually, then to keep the admin costs down they have to say it is not possible. $50 to own a new number with free calling isn't really all that much when you consider what the alternatives are with the other telcos where you just have to give them money each month for having a phone line.

Re: Port FPL to FPL?
oh I don't know cause my friend asked me he has two free account FPL and he want to port other account to a different FPL account. I told him call customer service.
It's sunday so they are close. I just have DV on iphone so the question I post on this thread just for a friend so I don't know about the detail.
from what I knew free desktop FPL to another free desktop FPL
is it clear now?

Unfortunately that confuses me even more.seagame2001 wrote: from what I knew free desktop FPL to another free desktop FPL

Surely if they have 2 free accounts and they don't want one anymore, just stop using it and log into the softphone with the other account. Why is there a need to port from one account to another?
I think I will have to bow out on this one as I don't seem to understand very well. I would be interested in what the outcome is though, whatever it turns out to be.

This is not even worthy calling the CSR unless there are other hidden reasons that I (maybe Jake as well) can figure out.seagame2001 wrote:oh I don't know cause my friend asked me he has two free account FPL and he want to port other account to a different FPL account. In the case that your friend's two accounts are both free, the "port in" process is very simple:
1) Change the to-be-port-in account A's registered email A to email C;
2) Change the to-be-port-out account B's registered email B to email A;
Then it's done! your friend's favorate account B becomes account A now.

Re: Port FPL to FPL?
$25 porting fee: Occurs when a number not previously belong to FPL is processed for use by an FPL account (This includes FPL subsidiaries, OR parent company.)
$50 unlock fee: Occurs the first time a customer wishes to be able to use their VoIP account on a non-ad supported FPL service (ATA or alternative softphone/hardphone)
When moving to a new area code and requesting a new local DID I am uncertain of what hapens. (Whether FPL will recycle your old DID and provide you a new on on the existing account.) Or if they will require you to set-up a new account and unlock it as per above.
Remember that porting and unlocking will ALWAYS DIRECTLY involve a DID (phone number), if it's about a physical change of location, change of contact information etc. This can be done by moving equipment, changing soft-phone credentials, or changing account credentials via the web interface and does not require FPL Interaction, nor does it carry a cost.

The number within the account would never change, the attached email is changable.seagame2001 wrote:oh ok thanks but will the number change or not

Sorry no offence but, I am feeling this a difficult topic, in my mind seagame2001 you are knowledgable in Fongo's service information, but you asked such a question!!! and you kept speaking as little words as to none each time.
We asked what your friend wants, you answer you don't know, but when we tried cover any possibilities, you mentioned your concerns little by little to "narrow" our guess.
So from your posts we are getting clues clearer and clearer:
Post 1: Your friend want port FPL to FPL
Post 2: Your friend want port FPL to FPL ONLY
Post 3: Your friend want port FPL to FPL for free
Post 4: Your friend want port free desktop FPL to another free desktop FPL
Post 5: Your friend want port free desktop FPL to another free desktop FPL and keep the number he wants
...
You should have mentioned the post 5 at the very beginning...
