Dell Voice just stopped working two days ago

Post by dalexop »

Hi folks,
I have a Linksys SPA3102 SW 5.2.13(GW002)
It shows registered and everything looks good on the interface.

I get dial tone, but when I dial out, I get FAST BUSY.

All calls dailing in are eventually routed to network VM and my local line never shows incoming calls.

I've cold booted the device, which usually worked in the past when the ATA goes into a zombie state.

The really odd thing about this is I have made zero changes on the device.

Anyone have an idea for constant Fast Busy ???

Thanks

So I just figured out what my problem was.

Interesting.

There were some threads that talked about Caller ID having an illegal character in the field.
I had recently put in the "&" between our initials in the Display Name field.

I changed the "&" to a "+" and outbound calls began to work immediately.
I'm sure inbound will be OK as well.

This would be a great sticky topic in the forum...

** Update **
Inbound calls did not work immediately, the ATA needed a hard reboot in order to get that going.

As I said in the other thread, this sort of problem is really going to be hard to try and work out. It's not one that springs to mind, not is that logical that it would cause a problem. This is why you probably didn't get any specific help, as you had already done the basics.

You did however mention in your first post that you hadn't changed anything, which seems to have been incorrect. If you had mentioned that you had just changed your Caller ID name, then someone may have picked up on it, especially someone who has had this happen to them.

Anyway, well done for finding the problem. It could have been days if trouble shooting if you hadn't remembered that you changed it. Building on your idea if making this a sticky, I think I might try and start building an unofficial self help guide. So people could look for their symptoms and then see if any of the solutions help them.
