Keeping account active with "follow-me" on?
For FFL, does receiving an incoming call that goes to a follow-me number keep the account active? I just got an email saying:
"If you wish to keep your service active and retain your phone number, you must log into your freephoneline and use the service."
Not sure if getting an incoming call that goes to me via follow-me constitutes "using the service".
thanks.

A follow-me call would count towards usage.

Thanks Steve,
I'll make sure I get an incoming call. After I do that, is there a way to find out if my account is now not in that last 30 days before being removed from the FFL system?

Other than the automated emails when the inactivity begins (at 30, 60 and 90 day increments), we don't have any other method of checking last usage at this time.lysack wrote:Thanks Steve,

If i recall properly, when you look into your account via the website, you can look at your call log's to see when the last time was it was used. (I can not confirm right now if that would also display calls that went through using the follow me feature though.

Mike: yes, fwd calls via follow-me do show in the call log. The one type of call that DOES not show is calls that are initiated but not completed (ie: caller hangs up before connected -- during ringing).FONGO_mike wrote:If i recall properly, when you look into your account via the website, you can look at your call log's to see when the last time was it was used. These calls (ended before termination) are ones that I am UNSURE if they count towards activity -- especially on OUTGOING (from FPL/DV) -- if it rings on the other end but does not TERMINATE, is it activity? The call was SENT on the circuit, just not terminated .... activity??
Also: call logs only show CURRENT & PREVIOUS month at best (please increase this, if at all possible, 3 mo history would be IDEAL!), so you can only see 29-62 day history (depending on length of months -- actually 61, as there are no 31-day months back-to-back).

Even only seeing the last two months will help. If none exist, it would be advisable to make call anyway. Although i do agree to the idea of three months. When i return to office i will send the idea to the correct people.

Re: Keeping account active with "follow-me" on?
True Mike. 3 mos is a nice "term" insofar as it matches the activity time out, and also allows for only 4-dumps to CSV per year (if you want your call logs) rather than 6. Not sure how much additional server space it would take up over the span of all the accounts, perhaps even make it an option that needs to be selected by the user (if space is an issue): leave the default as it is (current plus previous) and have the user be able to select a longer term.
Ideally, for me, an even LONGER term would be nice, say 6 mos of back call history, but that may be asking a bit too much.
TBH: I would rather that development cost and time be put into fixing the softphone PC applications, but if I cannot hurry that along with good wishes and pleasant thoughts, then increasing the length of the call log retention would assist.
From another thread, previously, if there is improvement/changes to the call log, making the online display SORTABLE would be a good option too, and one that would not require too much additional coding.

Re: Keeping account active with "follow-me" on?
Question: if you have ported a number in ($25.00) and purchased the SIP key ($50.00) do you STILL have to keep your account active?
I am a Canadian living abroad and use FPL as a stand alone mailbox for my business back home.

No. If you have bought the config file then your account will never be deleted by FPL. You can do it yourself, but they will not turn it off if you don't use it.kjmj wrote:Question: if you have ported a number in ($25.00) and purchased the SIP key ($50.00) do you STILL have to keep your account active?
