Whenever I make a call, the other person cannot hear me.
I've power cycled the modem and ATA but that did not solve the issue.
The modem is CISCO Model DPC3825 Docsis 3.0 Gateway
The device is Grandstream Handy-Tone 286
I've been using it for almost a year and had no issues.
Any suggestions?

Has the IP on the ATA changed? You might want to check that the ports are being forwarded to the right device.

It appears that the port forwarding is messed and likely something on your network has changed. To test and power cycle you need to disconnect everything from the modem/router except the ATA. Power down the ATA and the modemrouter/, wait a full 10 minutes and the power up the modem router and then once it is connected connected power up the ATA. Check the IP address that the ATA has from the router and externally.
(use the IVR *** 02 and *** 04 etc from the manual). Try phone calls. If this has not worked you can try turning on and running STUN (stun.callwithus.com) (see page 21 in the manual) Even if this works you will need to make sure that your port forwarding is correctly done.

Every time your power of your router or your ATA device will change IP

I would suggest either leaving the ports open in your router, or if the exceptions were done in the modme, to contact your ISP and have them open them perm. in your modem. (if that is an option)

This is not necessarily so. If you are behind a router, and have configured things correctly in the router, and power your devices on on the right order, you will get the same IP's to the same device each time.seagame2001 wrote:Every time your power of your router or your ATA device will change IP
Futhermore, most routers, if you dig into the manual, will allow you to "hardcode" the network IP based on the MAC address of the device -- as the MAC address is "burned into" the device and can only be changed by "cloning" or "spoofing", anyone who has the network know-how can ENSURE that each and every resident piece of equipment on their network ALWAYS and FOREVER gets the same internal network IP address.
This eliminates the problem you described altogether. Unfortunately, I cannot go into too many details on how this is done, as every router is unique in it's application of this, but I have set this up on a half-dozen or so different routers in the past to ensure that machine X always got IP .101 and machine Y always got IP .201 ....
