Is FPL desktop application discontinued?

Post by lustucru »

I reformated my hard disk after a system crash and can no longer download FPL desktop application.

I'm prompted to register but I'm already registered and have an FPL phone number. There's something weird: when I click "Register" (I don't see any other option to download), I'm redirected to Amazon.ca job search commercial or so.

Attached is a screenshot.

Thanks

Go to the FPL website, log in to your account, settings, then downloads ... that is where it is located.

I'd suggesting running an adware/spyware scan. The screenshot you posted seems to have a whole bunch of advertising links showing on the text on our website - we do not actually have that type of advertising on our site, or any advertising that uses pop-up boxes on mouseovers like that. It's possible your PC might have some sort of infection causing ads to be injected where they don't belong!

As for downloading, Hardy beat me to the answer :)

I chose not to download the XLS file that was attached (likely hiding spot for viruses) so I did not catch that part.

Steve's assessment of THAT part of things sounds correct, try to do a clean boot (or load Windows in safe mode) and run a trusted virus check program of your choice -- something there is not right at all!

As for the download answer, some of us non-Fongo-paid non-staff do check the forums more often than the unofficial-official-Fongo-rep-staff who are not paid Forum Support Staff. ;-)

The add says it is powered by RivalGaming, so I would suggest you have picked up their toolbar or other virus somewhere along the way.

Try this http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-rival-gaming

Sounds like a nasty one, there are a few of these idiotic things around. Best of luck with the removal!
