Unable to dial a specific number.

Post by seanhoff »

I am unable to dial a specific number on my Dell Voice number, all I get is a busy tone.

The number is a native Access Communications in Saskatchewan, and I am able to dial several other native numbers to this company, just not one.

Using my iPhone 5 running iOS6, my iPad 2 running iOS 5 and my 3rd gen iPod Touch running iOS 5 I get the same result. Power cycles to all devices do nothing, uninstall and reinstall of the app does nothing, and logging out, then back in to my account does nothing.

I have opened a ticket with Access Communications to have them look in to it on their end to make sure nothing is wrong, but it seems like it may be some type of a routing issue. Just wondering if anyone has any help as to what the problem may be.

Can you state the number here? Best case would be to forward it in a PM to Steve or Mike for further investigation on the Fongo side of things.

Are you sure that the number is included in the calling plan?

If you cannot state the full number, can we get the NPA-NXX of it (first 6 digits)? (full number should be sent via PM to Steve or Mike tho!)

I don't feel comfortable posting the entire number as it is a residential number of a family member.

Are Steve/Mike just listed with that as their user name, or is there an easy way I can possibly PM them?

The phone number is in Regina, which is covered by the calling package I am receiving through the Dell voice application. the phone number is 306-205-xxxx - which is a native number for that company. But other native numbers as well as ported numbers from that company I am able to call no problem.

Thanks for the help!

Okay --- I suppose I got a little confused by "native number" --- I get your meaning now ... :)

Yes, good not to post the # under those circumstances.

Seeing as you are able call other numbers in that "area", I would ask if there are OTHER 305-205 numbers that you cannot reach ---- if you know of any others, OTHER than the one for your family, then see what occurs with that/those one(s).

Steve / Mike can be found as Fongo_Steve / Fongo_Mike ... if you check out any of the announcement threads, you will find them -- their user names are GREEN for easy identification --- when you find a post by one of them, click on the PM icon over under their name in the right side pane of the screen.

I am going to do a google search to see if I can find any BUSINESS #s in the 306-205 range and see how my calls complete or not! :-)

Found "306-205-3726" as a tele-survey # that has a recorded message. Calls to this # seem to complete ok for me. CNAC shows 306-205 as an MTS Allstream #.

Is this correct or not? In any case, I can complete calls into this # ... I will see if I can find others to try!

*EDIT* found a few more, placed successful test calls to them, including a few fax #'s ... seem dialable OK for me.

Hi seanhoff,

I just replied to your PM but will post here as well just so everyone else reading the thread knows where we are at!
Are you able to try the call with your caller ID unblocked? I noticed in the call log that you had your ID blocked so I ran a few tests with my ID blocked and unblocked and when it's unblocked it connects fine, but when blocked it seems to be rejected to a fast busy signal.

If you use a non-Fongo line and call this number with a blocked caller ID, does it function? I didn't want to bombard the number with too many calls as I wasn't sure who was at the other end :)

Good catch. With the new mobile app you can now block your caller ID, so the other end could be rejecting anonymous calls.

One to remember, even if it isn't the case this time.

Steve (and others in this thread):

If the call fails with a fast busy from DV with BN, what error message does it get from a landline with a BN?? If it is an intercept message that actually plays, then this again goes back to the fact that Fongo service seems to display "FAILED" or give a fast busy when it should be playing an announcement of what the failure is ... ie "The number you have reached is not in service" or "The party you are calling does not accept anonymous calls" .... having these intercept messages actually PLAY versus FAILED/fast busy would eliminate a lot of the guesswork.

Please consider this an OFFICIAL suggestion for improvement in the network as a whole! :)
