Ports for ATA only

Post by WeeB »

I know the softphone requires UDP ports 13000, 13001, 5060, 5061, 6060 and 6061. But if I you are running only the an ATA what ports are required to be forwarded to the ATA? Does the ATA still require all 6 of those ports?

The ATA only requires 5060 - 6061 UDP to be forwarded.

Was that meant to say 5060-5061? or 6060-6061? Or does the ATA actually need 5060 all the way through 6061?

5060-6061 is the safest bet to cover the start/end ports (UDP) needed for voice traffic, depending on your network it could be any of those ports...

You could always run wireshark on an incoming / outgoing call to see the specific ports that you need to open.

In reality, most ATAs are 5060 line 1, 5061 line 2. However, there are some obscure ones out there we've seen that do operate on different port ranges. Since we're providing free support, we try to keep it simple: forward the whole range and you'll probably get it.

Well if its any consolation, I just wanted to say thanks for the quick and free :) reply's on the forum. I just got my ATA all setup on Friday and everything seems to be working great so far.
