Can't connect Dell Voice
I signed up with Dell Voice last Feb. and received a local Calgary telephone number and was able to use it from my laptop while I was in Arizona last year. I came home and used it on both my laptop and my desktop and then it stopped working. I cannot dial any number and nothing will go through. I contacted someone at Fongo who told me to delete the app and reinstall which I have done. I still get nothing. I see the keypad, I push the buttons and I get no sound or a connection. I am on Shaw High Speed Internet and when I was in Yuma Az. last year I was on a cheap internet connection called Beamspeed and it worked. Can anyone help me? I leave for Arizona at the end of December and would like to know that I can keep in touch with my family and I don't want to lose my phone number due to inactivity. Thanks.

Re: Can't connect Dell Voice
Sounds like a dial pad issue is not responding on your computer.

Re: Can't connect Dell Voice
Perhaps you have changed routers several times and been lucky and now have one that is not allowing the needed ports through to your computer. If that is the case you will need to correct that problem before the PC phone will work.

Re: Can't connect Dell Voice
I contacted my Internet provider and had my router reprogrammed and I still cannot connect to Dell Voice. It was working last spring and now nothing. I do not understand what you mean by doing something with Java. I checked the website about 32 bits and 64 bits but all I see are numerous configurations but I have no clue what I am suppose to do. I must say my internet is much faster now on my laptop but still can't make a call. Anyone who can walk me through this?

Re: Can't connect Dell Voice
Hi, Like Mike said, this maybe the Java issue.
If you updated to the lastest Java, Fongo will not work.
Remove the Java, install vwesion6 update25, it will be OK.

I guess I spoke too soon. I am now able to dial out with no problem, but the audio is very intermittent on both ends. I can't understand the caller and they can't understand me as it keeps breaking up. Is there anything else I should be doing? I have Shaw High speed Internet .

Re: Can't connect Dell Voice
I spent all afternoon Monday with Dell computer tech support to find out if there was anything wrong with my Dell laptop as I still have trouble hearing the other person and they, me as the signal keeps breaking up. After being on line for 3 hours they came to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the software used by Fongo. Is this correct? I would love to be able to use it when I head to Arizona at the end of January.

Re: Can't connect Dell Voice
Have you tried it on a different network? It could be your ISP or more likely your router. The softphone does have it's problems also, but an easy test is to take the laptop down to Tim Hortons or somewhere like that and test it. I have found some McD's block port 5060 so you may find it doesn't work there anyway. All the TH's I have tried have had no problem using Fongo though. At least with this test you will be able to narrow things down a little.

Re: Can't connect Dell Voice
I am currently down in Yuma AZ and am using Dell Voice. It seems that my router through Shaw Cable is the problem I am having in Calgary and will get it replaced once I am home.
The Dell Voice does work here in Yuma with a couple of problems. When I dial a number I do not hear a ring tone and only know that the call is answered when I hear a ding and notice seconds appearing just under where the number dialed used to be. I can hear the party clearly but they say they get an echo and their voice is repeated. Is there a quick fix to this?
