"Devise not registered" error

Post by Privatepilot »

Today when I picked up my phone, it said "devise not registered" and I could not make or recieve calls. When I unplugged the ATA and plugged it back in, the reboot fixed the problem.

However, this is an annoying problem, especially if you are tryiong to call home and the line is dead, and the person at home doesn't even know you are trying to call.

Did anyone else have this probelm on Dec 21st around 3pm?

Is there a reason why this happened, and / or is my ATA devise faulty?

Was what I did the best thing to do.... unplug power then plug back in?

Thanks for everyone's advise.

I like fongo so far, and am a guge fan of voip etechnology but just a bit concerned about the stability of fongo ATA / service.

Thanks

Unfortunately, still some issues..... now when I try to make outgoing calls, about 80% of the time, I get a fast busy sound, and only 20% of the time the call actually going through and rings the number that I am calling....

Whats going on...?

This is probably happening because your Router/ATA is not full configured. The router IP may have changed but the ATA has not been updated so it does not see incoming messages and cannot send them out. Check your keep-alive interval (mine is set to 20 sec) and the Register Expiration time (mine is set to 60 min). It all else fails then running STUN may help.

Thanks for the advise. Is this something I should do on my own or call tech support on the phone. How is the average person to know how to do this stuff. I know how to make changes in ATA config, as I am somewhat savvy with this stuff... but the average person?

Also, shouldn't the ATA's be configured properly already when they arrive in mail form fongo? I alos have the most up to date firmware

Thanks again much appreciated

I checked all my seetings and they are aligned with what you mention above. keep-alive interval (mine is set to 20 sec) and the Register Expiration time (mine is set to 60 min).

My service is back down again and it says devise not registered when I pick up the phone.

Very frustrated. Dont know what to do.

Have no clue what STUN means. All I want is a phone that works.

Unfortunately, I am getting the "devise not registred" issue again. Phone was fine all day but no longer. Seems to be daily issues. Service seems to go down for several hours and then resolves itself. Just hope service will become more stable

Tell me about. I just had a couple family members switch over to Fongo Home Phone and it's been up and down since it was setup. I really hope they resolve this soon or they will be losing some customers unfortunately.

Hi there,

What is your device? (ATA)

Please ensure that the device is configured as per FPL guidelines.

Thanks,

I note that the FPL guidelines refer to FW 10.4.3 while Grandstream guidelines refers to FW 10.4.8.
There are several differences between the two. Here they are with the choices I made.
Do you see something wrong?

Thank you so much.
