Hello,
I want to port a number from Teksavvy POTS before the end of year (Month end billing). Do you think it'll be possible to get it done before they bill me? I tried to call FPL today around 5pm, but they said the office is closed and their office hours are until 9pm today. I am guessing they close early due to the holidays? Please advise when you will re-open and if it's possible to port my number before year end.
Thanks!
Port Number

Re: Port Number
I am sure they would not able to port your number end of this year just a few more days. They need at least 5 to 10 business days to finish.

10 Business days?!! Wow, I did not expect it to take that long. Cell phones typically port within hours. Ok, I guess I am stuck paying for 1 more month of POTS service.

Re: Port Number
and after that you will pay one month again. Because you can not cancell the service, and they will charge you for not giving notice. and if you give notice they will provide hurdles (roray) in porting.

Re: Port Number
I am with Teksavvy POTS, as long as the port happens before the next billing cycle, I won't be billed for the next month. How does the porting work? Will I get a temp number that I can setup in the ATA and then when the port happens, it'll start working? I plan on porting a number and using an ATA. So, do I call FPL and pay the 75$ upfront (25 for the port and 50 for the ata credentials). Then what happens?

Re: Port Number
Basically, yes.
What you will need to do is set up an account with FPL. If you already have one you can use that, but you will loose that number once you port your other number in. You then basically need to call into FPL and tell them you want to buy the config details and port in your number. They will check that the number can be ported in and then start the process. You will need to provide them with a recent bill and such. As a word of warning, make sure the details on your new FPL account matches your Teksavvy account exactly. There has been people who run into trouble if the details do not match.
The config details should come through almost instantly, so you will be able to use this straight away with the (temp) FPL account number. Once your number gets ported you will just have to change the details in the ATA and it should kick in.
Some people have had troubles when porting in numbers. So if you find calls do not work when it gets ported in, get on the phone to support straight away and ask them to check things, or PM Fongo_Mike, he usually gets things sorted pretty quick.
