Making FPL calls from cellphone!
I think this would be an awesome and a very useful feature.
You dial your free phone line number from a cellphone, you wait till it goes to voice mail then press (for example) #, the automated system will ask you for the password (you setup this password on FPL website), you input the password and get a dial tone. With that dial tone you make long distance calls from your cellphone!
Just a suggestion.

Re: Making FPL calls from cellphone!
An alternate idea/method would be calling a local fpl access number.
Here's how it works:
1. You add your home and/or mobile phone number in your personal details.
2. You call the local access number (the system checks the number with the list of numbers added by fpl users in their personal details section) when the verification is complete, it gives a dial tone.

Actually, there is a service much like that. It is with our partner Worldline.ca for the long distance services. You call a local access number, wait for dial tone and then call anywhere in Canada, or anywhere within the list of 50 countries on the website including Canada and the US.
Also, if you have a cell phone with a SIP client on it, you could theoretically program the SIP settings of this Freephoneline configuration details into the SIP client and use that to call anywhere that any other Freephoneline phone can.

Re: Making FPL calls from cellphone!
I recently bought a Nokia N97 and entered my FPL sip details on my phone. I can now make free FPL calls to anyone wherever I have wifi connection.Krazie243 wrote:Actually, there is a service much like that. Re: Making FPL calls from cellphone!
Can someone post the settings for the Nokia SIP Phone? I have a Nokia E 63 and does have a SIP Phone, but I'm not able to make any calls. I've messed up the settings.

Re: Making FPL calls from cellphone!
We have a service quite like this on our PBX System, granted it is much more complicated it is the same premise.nikechristo wrote:An alternate idea/method would be calling a local fpl access number.
Here's how it works:
1. You add your home and/or mobile phone number in your personal details.
2. You call the local access number (the system checks the number with the list of numbers added by fpl users in their personal details section) when the verification is complete, it gives a dial tone.
1. You add your number to the "Authorized Numbers" list
2. You call your PBX's IVR
3. Type your DISA (Direct Inward System Access) which is like the PIN number for a calling card.
4. You make your call and are charged however many cents per minute you are paying for LD rates on your PBX; Since it's VoIP, it is theoretically free, at least for Canada.
-- Now - Not saying this will be available anytime soon, or at all (with res service) But in our PBX, we have a bluetooth transponder, now what you do is similar to pairing devices to your iPhone, PC, etc... BUT here is where it gets cool. There is a 250 Meter radius around this transponder where your PBX phone will ring if you are within it. But you can set it so as soon as you are out of range of said BlueTooth Transponder, it automatically goes to your FollowMe number!
Pretty cool eh?

I want to see a lot of our business functionality in FPL, obviously it wouldn't be free for these as they are completely optional and for the average user, redundant.
You're right. This is also incredibly easy to implement on our end. Making a good GUI for all of this will take time since we are now updating the ENTIRE site, no more pretty flowers, sorry guys.

N80 is done, though I was away Friday and could not get it sent out.
N95 is taking a while just because of all the issue we've had with our servers over the last little while.

Re: Making FPL calls from cellphone!
Usually we don't provide support for third party devices, all the configurations you see there were either given to us or we created off our own devices.
I think there is a similar device config in the Device Configurations section.

Yes the realm is voip.freephoneline.ca or, 208.65.240.142.
So, you should put 1xxxxxxxxxx@voip.freephoneline.ca (or) 208.65.240.142.
