I do not have a mobile phone and never had one. I use Freephoneline with an ATA for my home phone. I'm new to SMS/texting.
Some sites, like Facebook, require you to receive a SMS message to enable some parts of your account. Since I do not have a mobile phone (and don't want one), I'd like to know if it's possible for me to receive such text messages using my Freephoneline account? If not, is there some way I can receive SMS messages without using a mobile phone?
Thanks in advance!
Is it possible to use SMS/texting with Freephoneline??

Hello,
The texting services do not work with FPL. If you would like to be able to use texting services, you will need to sign up for an account with Fongo and download the mobile app to your smart phone.

In a word, no.
Texting is only available through the Fongo mobile app. In any case (unless someone has had better luck than me) Facebook won't send texts to the Fongo app. They must know it is not a real mobile phone number and block it, or Fongo is the one stopping them.

You can use the pinger.com service to receive texts from the websites.

Thanks awan, but I already tried Pinger without success for Facebook... I guess Facebook block numbers which are known to be used by such kind of services.awan wrote:You can use the pinger.com service to receive texts from the websites.
