Porting number from comwave to FPL

Post by winterfish »

Hi Support,

I am helping my friend to port her home phone number from Comwave to FPL. Comwave said they would charge my friend 50 dollars for the number.
Does she need to pay this $50 besides FPL's $25 charge?

Thanks.

Hi, it depends, does she need the configuration file for your ATA? If yes, that's 50$ for the ATA configuration file + 25$ porting fee.

If I read the question right, it is Comwave that are wanting to change the 50$ to release the number. I believe they are not allowed to do this, but maybe someone who knows for sure (Fongo Staff) can let us know.

Well I read a few bits, and in their TOS (http://www.comwave.net/legals/#legal_content) it has this
3.08 Telephone numbers

If you were assigned a telephone number from Comwave, this number may at Comwave sole and absolute discretion and subject to applicable law be assigned to another Subscriber. Transferring phone numbers to Comwave (LNP) is possible only in Comwave serving territory. If you decide to transfer your existing phone number to Comwave from another telephone provider it is possible that your service will be interrupted in certain circumstances while the transfer is in process. Specific LNP instructions are listed in the LNP web page under "My Account". To transfer any number to another company (Reverse LNP) you will incur an administration fee of $50 per number.
So yes, they will charge you a 50$ admin fee for porting out a number.

This page had a few things to say about Comwave http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?p=947582 In particular read this post http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpos ... stcount=25 which suggests that when you port numbers out, comwave doesn't route other comwave calls correctly.

Certainly a company to keep away from it seems unless you plan to be there forever. Sorry.
