I signed up for Fongo home phone end of December and requested for porting my number and paid for the porting. I wanted to know the status. As of yesterday my home phone stopped receiving signal from Rogers which to me indicates that I am off Rogers network and obviously my home alarm security system is disconnected. The instructions for the Fongo adaptor make it very clear that if I have requested porting of the number I should not attempt to connect until I get an email confirmation from a Fongo support that my number porting has been completed. I have sent few messages to support desk inquiring about it but have not received any response whatsoever.
This is frustrating as have to line uphome alarm security company to configure the system to work with the FONGO home phone.
I am not sure what else I should do to get a response from FONGO!

Re: Completion of the Phone number porting
Have you tried plugging the adapter in?
As with a few others lately you *may* have to log into the adapter and change the username to your ported number before it will work. I can't see any harm that will come from plugging in the adapter before you get the email. All will happen (or rather won't happen) is it won't connect.
Plug the adapter into your network and see what it does. If it doesn't connect try logging into the adapter and making sure the account username is correct.

Re: Completion of the Phone number porting
no I have not tried anything with the adaptor, was following the instructions to the tee. I did notice that when I log into my account on the fongo website, the temporary number has been replaced with my existing number which to me suggests that the porting has been completed.
Thanks Jake, I will try connecting tonight and see what happens!

In which case it sounds like you have been swapped over. Try as I suggested above and remember, if it doesn't work try logging into the adapter and looking for where the temporary account number has been added and swap it for your ported number (including the initial 1).Raj72 wrote:no I have not tried anything with the adaptor, was following the instructions to the tee. Re: Completion of the Phone number porting
When FPL was working I tested communications with my alarm monitoring company. I have an obihai202 and am monitor by reliance. It received all the tests and has been communicating properly.

Re: Completion of the Phone number porting
So I have been talking to alarm company, they are completely averse to VOIP phones and are saying that they can not continue providing the service through a VOIP phone, these phones are not reliable, blah, blah. So now the guy is telling me to go to GSM monitoring for which I have to shell out $230 for the GSM unit compliant with the panel and then pay additional $10 per month for the GSM monitoring.seagame2001 wrote:Raj72 wrote:I signed up for Fongo home phone end of December and requested for porting my number and paid for the porting. Now I have a extremely busy job with 60-70 hours a week and don't have a lot of time to research and look for providers and change my alarm service provider, so I am planning to go with the GSM monitoring and shell out the cash to get it done!
