No texting after porting number
looks like this has happened to other people too. I've submitted a request, but im posting this in the chance that it gets seen first.
Calling is working, texting is not. I cant send texts, and people cant send to me although some people with providers like rogers have their message transcribed over a call.
I believe my number appears as a landline or something, please help. If a mod could comment here, I will PM you any details you need.
Im sure you(fongo) know how to fix this by now, although im not sure why it isnt being done automatically by now either.
thanks

Just as a thought, as you didn't say, you have bought a text plan on the app - right? I only ask this silly question because you didn't put in your post if you have or not. You can only send and receive text messages to non Fongo numbers if you buy a text package.

Same story. Text messaging worked fine until I ported my number Dec 6. For a few days, incoming messages were converted to voice. This issue resolved and I can receive text messages. I still cannot send messages.

Re: No texting after porting number
You think thats bad... I havent had text working for about 2 months now and still not resolved. Everytime someone messages my cell phone number it comes back to them as cannot text a landline. Im pretty sure, they did the same thing to you. I think someone in the department, instead of putting the account under dell voice account they probably put it under a home service voice line which they also provide, which explains the message to landline. All calls are coming as voice text, SMS doesnt work. I tried to message them asking my account number. They tell me its my 10 digit fongo telelphone number which I dont think it is, because when I called a real carrier they told me there is no SUCH thing, so now im stuck with a company that I can even port my number out or use text messages.johne wrote:Same story. I dont know if you guys noticed too, the sales toll free number was also removed from the website. gee I wonder why. If fongo wanted to be a serious company, they would put real technicians who can help people over the phone not this forum non sense.. Im just fustrated in how much money I put into their add ons and yet they still treat me like its not a priority.
I just need my account number for this service the telephone number is not an account number... This is why when I ported to them from another company and the other company too was working with a telephone number as an account number even fongo said the same thing to me that it cant be an account number so after providing them with my IMEI number on the sim car that had my number assigned, then they managed to pull my number out.
Im really fed up.

Re: No texting after porting number
ayoshidage, I wish I could help but this is all at an account and system level which the forum members have nothing to do with.
All I can say is your account number is actually the 11 digits of your number (1 + your number). That is always how the accounts have been identified. I think maybe you had problems just at the wrong time. Their support is going through some changes and we have yet to see what it will be like once they have straightened things out. I am really hoping it will be much better than it is now, or even if it was like it was a couple of years ago would be a step forward!
They say that it will all click on the 31st - but we shall see. We have been told dates before and they always seem to be a bit on the flexible side.
I am surprised however no one has responded to your emails saying that they are looking into it. A few people have posted the same problem as you, so I would suggest to the Fongo staff that there might be a problem somewhere. It would certainly be worth taking a look at anyway and testing his account.

Re: No texting after porting number
Well I contacting Fido the telephone company. Im pretty sure you know who Fido is considering the headoffice is in Ontario just like you guys are. I gave him my information of my old number that was ported to fongo. The requested to pull my number out from fongo, so I dont know if its going to work but says it may take 5 days to find out if they are able to port the number to fido. I talked to 3 people including the technical support and they even said that there needs to be an IMEI number or an actual account number to port it out from fongo.
Funny thing is I remember when I was with petro canada which they also use the cell phone number as an account number also, and called fongo, they were asking an account number from petro, when I told them that petro canadas account number was my phone number FONGO told me we cannot port the number because a telephone number CANNOT be an account number. The only way fongo was able to pull my number out from the other company was when I provided them with the IMEI number of my cell phone that was assigned to that sim car with my number on it. The after telling them my IMEI number then they were able to pull my number out and that was it.
All I need is that IMEI number that I gave to fongo, so that I can give them that IMEI number to fido so that can pull the number out. Even though they sent out a porting request to fongo.. Someone needs to look into this on my file.

Re: No texting after porting number
Update : its been 3 business days and no emails from support.
A day after I posted this I started receiving texts, although I still can't send.
I get the error "this number is not covered by your package" even though I was texting all the numbers I've tried with before I ported.
My friends hate me because I've had to keep changing numbers, please help me soon fongo this is ridiculous.

Re: No texting after porting number
I'm having the same issue. I just had my TELUS Mobility number ported to my Fongo account.
Voice, and voice mail, are working, but when I try to send a text, I get:
"Uh Oh!
The text messaging service is not currently available, or you are not currently subscribed to text messaging..."
This was working before the port, under my old Fongo number.

Re: No texting after porting number
Just so anyone who gets this issue knows what is going on, if you buy an add-on with one number then port your old number over, the add-on package is still attached to the old number on fongos systems so instead of waiting for support i purchased a new texting add-on (i had only payed for the smallest texting add-on anyways so not that mad) and everything was working instantly.
If you are seeing this before youre porting: wait till after your number is ported to purchase add-ons.
I'll add that they have added this new automatic porting system so maybe they have fixed this!
*funny that texting is currently not working but they are releasing all this new stuff so ill let it slide.

Re: No texting after porting number
Although you would hope that Fongo would also move the credits to the new account, this makes perfect sense as to why so many have problems texting after porting in a number.chrisdrumz wrote:.. if you buy an add-on with one number then port your old number over, the add-on package is still attached to the old number on fongos systems...
I am sure a few have said that it still shows days in the add on section, but I guess things are not fully connected behind the scenes.
Fongo techs should be able to sort this out, if this is the problem everyone is having.
