If you want to get really fast then get FPL and buy your own ATA device and you can have it tomorrow

Re: How do I order fongo home phone?
Hi its actually pretty simple.
Register a phone number if you haven't already done so in your approx area, then once after you register that phone number under your name and address you can then purchase the Sip info settings.
With the Sip info settings you would then be able to put these settings into any ATA device that you own.
Also you will be able to plug an ordinary cordless or wired phone into this device.
The purchasing time takes only a few minutes and you will get all the details under the admin sip panel that you paid for to unlock.
You need to be logged in on the homepage https://www.freephoneline.ca/login (go from there to online store) to purchase.
It will look something like this below if your logged in on the homepage.
At the very bottom on the last page after filling out your personal info you will then need to click on complete purchase and right after this the Administration/System will verify that everything is correct and valid. This process takes just under a few minutes and then you should receive your brand new unlock Sip information tab in the main website panel.
PSS: Please do not post any Sip or Personal info on this forum, if you do need any extra help for this I suggest you to contact Fongo/Freephoneline @ 1-866-515-5550.
Hope this helps

If it is Fongo Home Phone you are after, you can either call as suggested above, or register online https://www.fongo.com/home-phone/register/

Re: How do I order fongo home phone?
I have registered with Fongo to get a phone from Fongo. i can make the calls from my laptop using the desktop app. Now I would like to get a home phone adapter to make a call from my phone.
I had assumed that tht total cost for Fongo Home Phone setup with adapter is as follow:
VOIP Unlock Key = 50.00
Phone Adapter form Fongo (preconfigured with the SIP settings) - 59.00
When I clicked on this link to get the adapter there is an added monthly charge of 4.95. Is that correct?

If I had my own ata adapter, will there still be a 4.95 per month charge? Thanks

The monthly fee is correct (it covers an umber of charges associated to providing a number) and if i am not mistaken, shipping is $14.95 for the ATA. The ATA is delivered pre-configured with the number on the account.

With home phone you have to buy the adapter/config for $59 (I think) and then it is 4.95$ a month. You do (supposedly) get access to phone support - or at least some sort of support.
With FPL you have to buy your own ATA and then a config file for 50$. You are then pretty much on your own to sort things out (but of course the forum is here to help). You don't however have to pay a monthly fee.
Both services offer the same DIDs and the same calling areas. The main difference is the support thing, and how much you pay.
I should mention that both are 'Powered by Fongo' Before Fongo and DellVoice there was only FPL (and other brands like ClearPointTel). Now Fongo seems to be the lead brand. It's all the same servers and people though.

Re: How do I order fongo home phone?
People have different opinions on ATAs, but when all is said and done most ATAs have been used successfully on this forum by someone.
I have a PAP2T which I bought years ago and it has served me very well and not given any troubles. FPL (Fongo) used to sell them, but now have moved to the Grandstream products. There is probably a reason for them doing so, and logic would tell you that if that is the ATA they are selling, then there is a very good chance it will play nice with their system. So something like -
http://www.amazon.com/Grandstream-Handy ... 503&sr=1-1
or
http://www.amazon.com/GrandStream-HT701 ... B007EYY3XU
Would be perfectly fine. I believe their 502 has two FXS ports on it.
I will say that I have never used any of the Grandstream products, but I have not read any bad reports from people on here either.
Just watch about getting ATAs from China via somewhere like eBay. I'm not saying they will be bad, but there are a lot of fakes coming from that way and some have been known to catch fire. For 50$ I don't think I would take the risk, even if it is just a risk of it not working very well. Voip can be tricky enough without poor devices thrown in the mix.

Re: How do I order fongo home phone?
Jake - I looked for Grandstream ATA adapters, they were only available online. I could not wait and bought a Cisco SPA 112 from a local store, entered the my SIP config from FPL and presto it worked, I am now able to make phone calls from my Fongo Phone.
There were 2 SIP configuration parameters that I could not enter in the ATA, as I could not find them in the ATA's configuration web interface. They are as below:
Ring Tone Frequency: 52
Ring Tone Voltage: 90
Could the above parameters have different names?

Those settings should be in there. I don't have one but a quick look in the manual and it shows the settings. On my PAP2T those settings are on the 'regional' tab, so I would start looking there.

Re: How do I order fongo home phone?
Don't worry about those parameters, they concern the type of ring you could get, and are a secondary issue if it is an issue at all.akhawaja wrote:Jake - I looked for Grandstream ATA adapters, they were only available online. Re: How do I order fongo home phone?
With Fongo Home Phone $4.95/mon service, can i not buy there ATA adapter and use my own? I like to pay them a monthly fee instead. Since I will pay them $4.95 on a on going basis, will they give out the VOIP settings for free? Why is the number porting takes so long? 10 to 14 days is not the industrial standard.
