I will do my best to explain this. I have to adapter an HT-286 that has worked for months without issue and an HT-701 that was just added yesterday. I have two residential numbers, the first is on the HT-286. I used it for several months before deciding it was stable enough to replace my other home phone line. I purchased a new HT-701 and configured it as per this site. Yesterday my second residential line was ported and I correctly changed the user name. Both adapters seemed to be working fine and I made and received several calls on both lines. This morning I noticed neither phone was able to call out but both were receiving calls. They could call each other but if I tried to call outside the FreePhoneline or Fongo network I heard nothing....but the call was going through and the party on the other end could here me but I heard nothing. I thought maybe it was a problem created because I had to voip adapters plugged into my network. I established this was not a problem by unplugging the ht-701. Reseting the network, router and HT-286. But to no avail. The HT-286 as a single device on the network still takes incoming calls but not outgoing calls. I can however make outgoing calls to my dell voice phone on my cell but not my actual cell number. I have never made any changes to the router regarding port forwarding or routing. I changed nothing overnight but it stopped working sometime after 6:00 last night.
Can any help? Is it s fongo network issue, is it my network, a setup issue... I am at a loss.
Thanks,
John

Re: Unable to call outside Fongo Network
My first thought would be that your router is blocking, or rather not routing properly, some of the posts needed for the call.
Unfortunately Fongo also made some changes to something last night, but we do not know what (if in fact anything) they changed/adjusted/updated. So it could very well be that because of what they did last night it has effected your setup, but as I said, we don't know what they did so it's difficult to say if it would effect you in some way.
What I would suggest you do is only concentrate on one ATA for now, so the other one is not effecting things in any way, and fond out what RTP ports you need for the ATA and get those set up in your router properly. If and when you do get it working again, it is likely that your other ATA will need the same range of ports, so you will have to spit the range between them, assuming that forwarding the ports helped.

Re: Unable to call outside Fongo Network
Something definitly changed over night. I have decided to try and restore the ht-286 to work all by itself. completely reset my cable modem and and router. Phone registers and receives incoming calls. It makes outgoing calls but you can't here it ringing or can't here anybody when the answer but they can here you. My uneducated guess is a stun server, nat or port problem. So I rip out the router, and try direct to cable modem. Reset the ht-286 and cable modem so it can get an fresh ip and voila everything seems to work. So this is definitly a router problem but since it hasnt been a problem for months, I suggest something happened last night and I may need to look at either stun server, nat or port problem. At this point I would be happy with just getting one to work. Still odd that it works fine fongo to fongo even on different networks.

This post just started and it sounds like the same symptoms with a soft phone. http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8046#p44080

Re: Unable to call outside Fongo Network
Starting to solve my own problem. Seemed to get the HT-286 working by port forwarding 5060-5061 UDP to it's static ip and 13000-13001 to it's static ip. Now what happens if I add another ata device like the HT-701. I can make it static but will fongo dictate the ports or does the ata dictate the ports.
Anyone ever put 2 ata devices in the same network? hmmm subnet may have something to do with this. I am so far in over my head.

Does it need 5060 to work? or does it work fine with just 1300 and 13001 forwarded?boatguy wrote:Starting to solve my own problem. If you find it does work OK, see which RTP ports your ATAs will accept. The PAP2T I use it set to work on ports between 16384 and 16482. If I had 2 PAP2T ATAs here, then I could forward half to each, or set the second ATA to work on a different set of ports, say 16483 to 16500.
If it needs to have port 5060 as well, then set the ata to use, say 5062, then I believe you can forward port 5060 external to 5062 internal. From what I understand, it is only FPLs side that needs to listen for 5060. Your router will only need to route port 5060 if you use a PBX with external phones. I could be wrong, but that is what I think I have read in the past. SO, you should find it is just the RTP ports that need forwarding, which are the ones that do the sound.

Re: Unable to call outside Fongo Network
It happened to me yesterday as well!
Same issue. When placing outgoing calls I hear nothing just dead air. The other party can hear the rings and they answer anh hear me but I cannot hear them. Incoming calls are ok.
I have a Talkswitch PBX. The router is Tenda N60
What I did to solve the problem: I had to reprogram the router and re-open/re-map the ports 5060-6061 (UDP) and 10000 -20000 (UDP) and to re-enable the UPnP. ALL WORINGK AGAIN NOW.
I posted this on another threads as well ... see if it works for you. Most likely an issues with the 5060 port (SIP) which has to be opened and linked with your IP
