What specific port values do we need to look for in our ATA settings? I have a SPA112 ATA. Also, this means I need to finally upgrade my D-Link DI-604 router to forward port ranges (this only does specific ports, need an entry for each one)

I don't think you need to upgrade, just forward ports one by one.
Now, for the SPA112, you need to look into the Line1 or 2 depending on which you use. Look for "RTP Parameters" or "RTP Port Max & RTP Port Min".
Get the values/port numbers from there and forward them into your DI-604 (direction in, to the IP address of your SPA112).

I believe UDP5060 and UDP5061 are default for SIP (for setup communication). The RTP ports are used for data transmission hence voice.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated! (Would be a nice Valentine's Day gift for my wife to have her phone working again!) :roll:

I see references to "ports" in a few different sections of the config utility.

In the "SIP" section, under the heading "SIP Parameters", I have 5060 for "SIP TCP Port Min" and 5080 for "SIP TCP Port Max". Also, under a different heading named "RTP Paramenters", I have 16384 for "RTP Port Min" and 16482 for "RTP Port Max".

In the "Line 1" section, under the heading "SIP Settings" I have 5060 for "SIP Port". (5061 for Line 2, but I don't use that)

Do I need to forward all ports within the ranges 5060-5080 and 16384-16482? If so, I need a new router, because my port forward list in the router settings only allows about 15 entries.

No, you only need to forward about 4 ports. In the SIP parameters you can change the SIP TCP port max to 5061. Then, in the RTP parameters leave the min value untouched and change the max to 16385. This gives you only 4 ports to forward: TCP/UDP 5060, TCP/UDP 5061, UDP 16384 and UDP 16385.

It seems to work this morning for me too, but I don't know if it's thanks to port forwarding, since it didn't work yesterday evening with the same settings.

still nothing.

forward:
5060,5061(is this needed?)
16284-16285 UDP

...nothing,

added to DMZ, nothing

every time I change settings I reboot both router and pap2t.

running out of ideas... and patience.

since this is bell lte stick with cradlepoint router, I may factory reset the router, but I really don't see the logic.

Are 5060, 5061, 16284 & 16285 the values shown in your ATA settings? (Are you sure it's 16284 and not 16384?) Is your ATA IP statically assigned by your router?

I've tried many:

rtpmin=16384 rtpmax=16385
rtpmin=16284 rtpmax=16285
rtpmin=10000 rtpmax=20000

all corresponding to ports forwarded on router

and reset at every change.

After the Feb 12 network upgrades, I had issues with the outgoing part (was not able to hear when the phone was ringing and when the other party answered). I did forward my ports the day before yesterday and it worked ok until yesterday evening when the phone stopped registering. Now I am out of service completely

Any other suggestions? I would check and re-check all the settings again in the evening or over the week-end (when at home)

UPDATED: when doing changes last time for the outgoing issue I change the was the PBX - ATA is dealing to IPS and I put it to get the IP automatically. I CHANGED IT BACK TO STATICALLY ASSIGN THE IP ...AND I AM BACK!!!

SIP Status: connected
SIP User Agent: TalkSwitchCVA/6.50b08

Thanks you h00ch :)

@ epsilon3

I hear you. The service is free... but this issue has cost me, and I do purchase long distance credit.

It's becoming less free by the minute.

I agree, the most frustrating issue is not knowing where the problem lies, a little more transparency on fongo/fpl's part would be nice.

Does it have any FPL support working on this issue?
Let me summaries it:

Issue:
When dial-out to NON-FPL numbers, it cannot hear any voice, but for dial-out to FPL numbers, no issue.

Findings:
- The issue happend since 3-days ago, not more than that.
- Call-in from any numbers from outside, have no problem at all.
- Not related to any router port settings, since no any router setting change on my side and issue just happened for 3-days. If it is related to router port setting, it should have issue on ALL dial-out calls, but now only NON-FPL numbers affecting.

FPL support, please put more focus on this, if you need a ticket, this is mine (ticket #6495), I have 2 FPL numbers, both have the same issues also my friends too.
FPL support, please keep your good reputation. It had been for 3 days already.

Strange ... now I can place outgoing calls, I see my unit online (registered) but when I call my number it says the number is not in service. I tried removing the follow me settings ... same issue, put it back ... still cannot call my number ... The outgoing calls are ok ...

UPDATE: I was too trigger happy ... I just rebooted the PBX and the router, wait 5 minutes and now all back to normal ....

If FPL has call-in problem that may not have BIG impact on business.
BUT for the dial-out problem is business impacted. If FPL want users to buy long-distance credit, they should fix the dial-out issue.

I've tried all these suggestions but no success ... still cannot hear the other end but they are hearing me when I phone out.

All was perfect before the service maintenance so I cannot believe it's my setup.

I am using Cisco SPA122.

What could have gone wrong during the maintenance that have such a wide negative effect on customers?

I hate to say it but I had to purchase Magicjack plus to supplement this and it works wonderfully.

Since FONGO_Mike closed a similar/redundant thread, we know that FPL is aware of this issue. However, could you just post a few lines to give us more info/status update? It would be nice to have some feedback and to keep communication lines open (that's one of the major flaws of FPL).
