I have quick question, how much internet data usage usually happens for having VOIP line? does it come under download or upload?

Download and upload requirements are about the same for SIP voip. Normally, it is the upload bandwidth that may give problems and most ISPs give a much loader upload bandwidth than the upload (mine is about 6 Mbits/sec down bit only 0.5 Mbits/sec upload but this is enough for at least two high quality SIP voip calls at the same time as long as nothing else significant is using the upload bandwidth). The required bandwidth depends on the codec that you are using

I normally use G711u and the quality is as good or better than the regular land line.
