What happened to the tech support number?

Post by colesy »

Does it still exist? They have removed it from the site. Part of the reason me and my other family members went the route of fongo home phone over FPL was the phone support. Now we pay $4.95 for the same online support forum everyone else gets for free. The forums support is usually pretty good, but its not the same as getting someone over the phone. Especially for someone like my mom who doesn't want to deal with signing up for an account, posting a question, and waiting for answer.

So they should drop the $4.95 charge as well. Isn't that what you were getting for the monthly charge? Now we get the same service as FPL, but they don't pay anything. So now I need to port my number from fongo home phone to FPL, and pay for the unlock keys. Then I can get rid of the monthly fee. I didn't mind paying it knowing I could call 24/7 if I had issues.

I think the 4.95$ charge has always been chalked up as 'essential service fee'. The fact they would also offer phone support was just an added bonus I believe.

You still get support that FPL users don't, but it is by email only at the moment.

I do get your point though, and that has pretty much been my view on it when Home Phone was released.

Thanks, Jake.

So what would be involved in switching from Fongo to FPL? The ATA I got with Fongo HP is mine right? I paid for it upfront. So I should be able to use that with FPL. So I would have to pay the $25 porting fee, plus the $50 for the unlock keys? Then I have essentially the same service but with no monthly charge? I would rather use the forums than email or live agent. The $4.95 was a small price to pay for phone support, but if I don't get that I can deal with forums support if I am not paying a monthly fee.

I believe what you have put to be the case, but please don't take my word for it as I am not completely sure.

Your best bet will be to either email them or send a PM to Fongo Support and tell them what you would like to do, and why :D

What you will probably have to do is first set up a free account on FPL, so you can then port your number over there, and then buy the config file. I know people have moved between Fongo brands before, but that was mainly to go to Dell Voice for the mobile app.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on. It will help anyone else who is thinking along the same lines.
