No incoming or outgoing calls, home phone not working at all

No incoming or outgoing calls, home phone not working at all

I am experiencing trouble setting up my homephone.

I've followed the setup instructions provided to me and have looked to no avail for a solution to this problem.

When I try to call my newly ported number I get a message saying "The person you are trying to reach is unavailable. Please record your message."
When my phone is on the hook, the green "Phone" light is off.
When I take the receiver off the hook, the light flashes, but there is no dial tone.
When I dial a number, there is a not-in-service type beeping afterwards.

I've only received one response to an email I sent telling me to update my SIP User ID through my browser (I had already done this).

It's been close to a week now and I'm growing very frustrated. If anyone has a solution or at the very least might know what the problem is, that would be much appreciated.

It sounds like your ATA is not registered with the SIP server.

Could you tell us a bit more about your setup.

1. Has it ever worked?
2. Have you ported your phone number from another company?
3. Do you have the Fongo Home Phone service?

You should log into the ata and check the phone number that is registered there. It may not be your newly ported number, so this will have to be updated.

On my Grandstream ata, I dial *** . When asked for a menu option, type 02 . A recording will read out the ip address of the ata, something like 192.168.1.8 .
(Ignore the zeros. If they say 'zero zero eight', just enter 8.)

1. No. Only received the hardware from Fongo about 5 days ago and haven't gotten it to work.
2. Yes, I ported my number over from Bell. I received an email from Fongo letting me know that the porting had gone successfully.
3. Yes.


Could the problem be with my actual phone?

Again, these are the symptoms. They seem different from others that I've read on this forum.

I can't see the phone being the problem. Even with no phone plugged in people calling in should hear a ring before the voicemail. The ATA just doesn't seem to be registered.

The only other thing I can think of, is when you updated your username in the ATA for your ported number, did you include the initial 1?

If you did, PM Fongo Support with a link to this thread and ask him to test your account. It could be a problem with the setup of the account. Make sure your username is your ported number, and has a 1 at the front of it first though.
