My service also went down (first noticed at 2:00PM EST) and was still down at 4:45. I did the switch to voip2.freephoneline.ca and it resolved the issue.
I have never had an issue before this one. People were not able to call me, and I wasn't able to complete an outgoing call - but the phone did have a dial tone.
I use a Cisco SPA112 ATA with Firmware: 1.2.1 (004) Jul 27 2012 (FYI - earlier firmware had call display issues).
FPL Down - Tuesday 5th of March - 1250hrs

Re: Free Phone Down ? Dead ?
Ok well after reading further there is a massive problem.
I have downloaded a new "Freephone" app but it still dosnt work I tried to figure out the router port forwarding but that dosnt fix things either.
So I guess Im out of commission until I can figure something else out.
Cheers...

This is beginning to become a bad joke! Seriously FPL/Fongo, did your management not think it was a bad idea to completely get rid of your live telephon support people without telling your own customers? How about even asking them for their opinion first BEFORE you even did it to see how it would impact your customers and business? Your customers are your livelyhood and provide the source of income for your business, so maybe you should honestly and consciously ponder the thought of consulting your customers before implementing a cost-cutting change that directly affects current and new customers. We bring people to you and set them up for your services, so when your service is down without being honest about it, and your people send contradicting setup information, how do you think it makes us and you look? Foolish, to say the least. I've been trying for 2 whole days now to setup a new customer and your customer support is non-existent to correct an account and/or porting/SIP server problem on your end! This is really pathetic.

Why are your people telling me to configure an ATA using sip.fongo.com when your website tells me to configure for voip.freephoneline.ca? My lines using voip.freephoneline.ca work fine, but new lines for sip.fongo.com are outgoing only and all incoming go straight to vmail. Please correct the internal system issues and post an honest status so we're not beating our heads for nothing. Thank you.

Not trying to confuse things more, but have you tried using voip2.freephoneline.ca ?grmoro wrote:Why are your people telling me to configure an ATA using sip.fongo.com when your website tells me to configure for voip.freephoneline.ca? I have a few accounts here and I have been having trouble with the one I keep connected to voip.freephoneline.ca
Accounts registered to the voip2.freephoneline.ca server have been fine since I set them up on it.
I am not sure if there is a problem with the voip.freephoneline.ca server, or if it is just overloaded. I do know however that is seems to be a common denominator with a lot of problems lately. I used to use the sip.fongo.com server, but since they released this http://support.freephoneline.ca/entries ... redentials I moved my main accounts to the voip2 server and only keep one on the voip server for testing.
As I said, I don't want to confuse things for you more, I have no idea what you have been told by Fongo Support. A few people have had problems fixed by going to the voip2 server and I thought it might help you also.

Re: FPL Down - Tuesday 5th of March - 1250hrs
HI. The problem was on their end with some internal server issues relating to the Follow Me settings that were clear on the user side, but were different on their internal end, which we cannot see. Also, they send you one email to use sip.fongo.com, another one to use voip.freephoneline.ca (that was constantly going up and down for the past 2 days), and then using sip.fongo.com I could only make calls to other fongo members, and nothing to any number outside of FPL. Their support just called and we finally got it working properly, but talk about frustrating indeed as I remotely monitor and support non-tech users with their FPL/Fongo service, so when you're in the process of a new installation and it doesn't work, you look bad and so does FPL/Fongo, especially when their website status shows everything's fine, and yet tons of people have been posting the same problems for over a day. I've been doing this long enough to identify where the problem is, but if there's no way to telephone them and have it fixed while you're at the customers site, you end-up making 2 or 3 trips there to fix a problem that you can't. I don't get paid for this running-around and it's a huge drain on my time and pocket for their issues they should be reporting. Their status page should be reporting issues with all 3 of their proxy servers, not just an overall update that is clearly wrong. At times I couldn't even reach another internal FPL/Fongo line, so that was another problem. Let's just hope that voip2.freephoneline.ca remains stable.
