dropped call after 30-32 seconds

Post by LeanMeanChristine »

hi, I sometimes experience a call getting cut off at around 30-32 seconds. If it makes it past that time span then all is well with freephoneline. I did some research on past forums that dealt with the same topic & how some people were able to diagnose this certain issue & got 2 answers but I'm not sure which one applies to me, if any:

http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... all#p38544

http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... all#p44526

I use a cable modem for my internet connection & my ISP has the router, not me. I also don't have the ATA (I only use the freephoneline service)

Cannot login into my pc fongo anymore, so I decided to try freephoneline. Calls drops after 32 seconds. Looks like great support as this question was asked a week ago with no reply.

.

I have the same problem.
15 of 20 (75%) of outgoing calls were dropped after 30-35 seconds.
1 outgoing call was dropped after 60 seconds.
No solution yet.

Fortunately, incoming calls are OK.

Have you done this(see below) and still not working?

If you confirm that you already did as per that example, please send me PM with your account number and I will have a look.

I also have this problem (+ 2 other problems )since last update.

My calls gets hung up automatically after around 32 seconds. My pc is directly connected to my cable modem and the problem still
occurs when I disable my software firewall.

The 2 other problems I'm having happens less often but here they are:
- The application calls but nothing happens, no ring tone, no sound.
- People calls me but freephoneline doesn't get the call, then I receive the voice message by mail.

I registered to skype until things get fixed but i would rather use freephoneline since I can have a local phone number, plus the sound quality is better.

thank you

Me too I get all my calls dropped after 32 seconds.

I am not sure I understood all of what customer support told me but it seems that the software needs a STUN server in order to validate the IP address. The call works for 30 seconds but if the server cannot validate my IP after 30 seconds, the call is dropped. When I was told this, I had zero knowledge on STUN servers. I read a bit since then and I am not sure I still understand but hopefully, someone who understands this could clarify or correct me.

Maybe as a group, we could come up with a solution.

Hi there,

As I have mentioned to you, I am gathering logs and will get this investigated and resolved.

No need to look for any workarounds, I will let you know once I have an update.

I have the same problem with new application. With old one, it was working just fine.
Inbound calls are OK.
And yes, it happens after 30-32 sec after outbound call was made.
Even tried port forwarding, but the same.

seems to be application issue, as other users reported here.

P.S.

Sometimes, even outbound call will work beyond 32 sec, but there is no pattern.

Thanks

I have some finding to share with users here.
I am using Huawei HG8245 Router and I have setup Port Range Trigger (not forwarding) to a known ports: 5060-5061 UDP, 6060-6061 UDP and 13000-13001 UDP.
I don't have a problem calling this FPL number from outside, neither calling landlines outbound from my PC.
But, whenever I call cell, it disconnects after 32 seconds.
Tried calling Wind mobile and ROGERS and behavior is the same.

By the way; if ALG SIP option gets disabled, only one way voice is heard, but not the opposite-other called party doesn't hear me until SIP ALG is enabled again.

So, for this router SIP ALG needs to be ON.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Zoro

I will try that one out, but not sure, if it is going to fix, as I have 32 sec. problem only when calling cell phones.
Nevertheless, will try and let you guys know.

One thing to add...

Post you've put here viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8108 is for ATA device.

I am talking about Fongo soft phone.

So, it's active only when PC is on. Having said that, even if I do port forwarding to an IP address of the PC inside LAN, as long as PC is OFF, call signaling won't be working as PC is OFF???
Am I missing something?

Hi there,

Sorry, I was confused because in your signature you had Linksys PAP2T device.

OK, these are my findings:

1) SIP ALG on HG8245 has to be ON. Otherwise, only calling party can hear other side, while called party won't hear anything.
2) Enabled "Port Trigger Forwarding" for the above mentioned UDP port ranges and all inbound and outbound calls work. Used Port Trigger instead classic Port Forwarding, since PC is used for communication, not ATA device. Having said that Port Trigger will dynamically trigger router to open all those inbound ports to any IP from in LAN. Therefore, Port Trigger is better choice, since PC is on DHCP. Strange router, but you can not assign Static DHCP using MAC address in order to setup Static Port Forwarding.
3) However, when calling cell phones (tested by calling Wind Mobile and ROGERS) outbound calls still get disconnected after 31-32 seconds, while there is no issue when you call land line, or another Fong/FPL VoIP number. Wind Mobile and ROGERS are Toronto are (416), as well as land line (416).

Hope this helps,

Zoro
