thank you.
I'm wondering if it's not my voip box. It's a linksys SPA2102. Been using for months without problems though. Could it be broken? I rebooted it and the web admin still says registration failed.

I can register using FPL softphone though.

I have solved my problem. Sorry it was just my voip box... I had to do a user reset to make everything work again. Very weird, never happened before.
thanks though.

I had to do same thing. Power off/on ATA.
Before this no calls in or out...only dial tone.

FPL should check what was the problem. These problems shows trouble at FPL and maintenance and upgrades.

Not Happy for the first time...

In the cases of failed registration, power cycling or re-registering is what would most likely resolve the issue.

No I dont.
I had very few problems with Rogers/Bell Internet. If its not working I just wait and it works after few hours.
Bell phone has never been down in years.
FPL screw-ups are becoming more and more. Nothing is disclosed.

Here is I am going to do.
Never port my Bell land-line to FPL line.
Never pressure my friends to switch to FPL.
Power off ATA every chance I get.
Test FPL line for incoming and outgoing calls everyday.

Well... I had to do a real user reset with the phone interface. Just power cycling did not work, that's why it took me a while to figure it out, since it doesn't have a reset button.

Keep in mind that a POTS phone system doesn't even nearly equal a VOIP network. POTS phone networks are built to have the "five nines" reliability (almost 0 downtime in a year). Good for reliability, expensive for cost.
VOIP is cheap, but has a handful of variables that will affect things (router quality, internet quality, ping, packet loss, internal network setup, ATA setup, etc).

As bloodsong has also said, the investment in your network hardware will directly affect your VOIP experience. I have a $200 router on a DSL connection that's barely 1.2mbps on a good day. I I use my VOIP line each day for 1-2 hours to talk to a loved one who is living away from home for a couple years. The only dropped call I've ever had since September was when I walked too far on my property and my phone itself lost connection to the base. With that being said, I can even download tremendous amounts while still maintaining jitter free VOIP calls for hours on end. This is easily attributed to a quality router. Mind you, one doesn't need to pay $200 to get this, but spending a little more than the $50 average will help.

If some of the issues people were experiencing here were truly global, than I too would be affected because I such heavily use my freephoneline on a daily basis. Although we are exploring a few upgrades on our end in the coming months, I don't believe these will completely solve some of the issues here that are believed to be not just our problem.

I 've been using voip for more than 5 years. I tried many voip providers (5). I've been using FPL for almost a year now I couldn't be happier, service quality and customers support are 5 stars. Thank you guys for everything. Keep up the good work.

Best Regards.

I have SPA2102

if you have the same. You use the interactive voice menu. Follow this quick guide.

For that device I believe it is **** to get to the Configuration Menu (Which a nice english lady will tell you, once you're there...) then literally type "RESET#" into the phone - That would be 73738#...

You will then be asked to press "1" to confirm, you may or may not hear an odd beep/growl coming from your handset, and it will be reset. Keep in mind 80% of the time it does grab a new IP so to find that out, once more go to the config menu (****) and press 110# to retreive that IP. It goes fairly fast so it helps to know your network range so you only have to remember that last IP node! (.xxx)

I have Linksys PAP2T ATA. Does a power-down work the same as a reset?

FACTORY RESET in a PAP2T would be dialing **** to get to the configuration menu, then typing RESET# (73738#) and pressing 1 to confirm.
