Would be nice to have the softphone take messages while the computer is off.

FPL Windows Desktop v3.2.6

Post by Cyber »

After doing additional tests with (voip.freephoneline.ca), calling the same phone number three time in a row, calls disconnects at 32 seconds. If i call the same number a fourth time, my outbound call is correct. No disconnection at 32 seconds.

If i call a different number, i have to do the same pattern.

(2013-04-27): PROBLEM FIXED!

Problem solved when FPL Windows Desktop v3.2.6 connect to: voip2.freephoneline.ca

You have to add two entries in the "hosts" file located at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc

208.xx.xxx.165 voip2.freephoneline.ca
208.xx.xxx.165 voip.freephoneline.ca

Since moderator do not want us to post "public" IP :? (mod, you know what mean public?), you have to find it by your own.

How to find an IP from a hostname?

1. If you are using Windows, open a command prompt and type: nslookup voip2.freephoneline.ca

OR

2. go to this website hostname lookup

You have to open the file hosts with a text editor like notepad in administrator mode (right clic on notepad and select execute as administrator).

Hi, Im still fighting the 31 second call drop when I call computer to land line. I see the issue about adding the IP address line in the "hosts file" but I don't know if I have it in the file properly to make it work. This is what I have :
Is it correct ?

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
# 208.65.240.165 voip2.freephoneline.ca
# 208.65.240.165 voip.freephoneline.ca

@balsamboy:

You have to remove "# " before 208. else it won't work

I just had the problem of called dropped after 30 seconds.

It was my first call after doing the following when trying to resolve issue with one way sound:
1) Removed all port forwarding from router config
2) Changing SIP ALG to enabled on the router (didn't realized was disabled, cisco e4200: administration)
3) Send an email to fongo support (no rely, but...)
4) Note, they were doing some sort of system maintenance last night I think.

My first call today everything was working great but call got dropped at exactly 30 seconds.

I went back to my hosts file and made both hosts point to the 165 ip address.

I tried one more call (different number) and it was still working after about a minute.

Not very extensive testing, and my changes on my computer and possibly the fongo system,
so I don't think conclusions can be drawn, but maybe someone else may have luck with
trying these thing.

THANK YOU CYBER!

I just wanted to logon and say thank you for that fix! Goodbye Bell. There was nothing wrong with you, ... it's just $600 saved per year, is $600 saved. I'll use 711 Speakout as my pay as you go since it's the cheapest. Amen

Glad to hear that my fix will save you 600$ per year. It's a lot of money!

If you don't know what do with this money, you can send me a tip on PayPal ;)
