Hi,
I have a simple question.
I live in Ontario and I have phone line from FPL and it works OK as my home phone.
This June I’ll have a very long (5 months long) business trip to Winnipeg, Manitoba and I’ll stay in hotel having free high speed Internet. I’ve called this hotel’s ISP and found that they DO NOT block VOIP traffic. So, I’ve decided to pay another $50 and to buy second SIP from FPL; it will be much cheaper than phone calls from hotel.
My question is will FPL work in Winnipeg, Manitoba?
The question arises because Manitoba is not in the list of provinces you pick when you register in FPL.
Thank you.

Yes, the service is not location dependent. It will work in France just as well as it will in Ontario. The only limiting factor is the internet connection. The more control you have over it the better your chance of it working. Unfortunately with the hotel internet there isn't much you can do but hope. If it is to call back home, I would prepare a Skype setup also, just in case.
You won't get a local number, but if you get - say Ottawa - number, you will still be able to be contacted though that number. It will be long distance to local people (in Winnipeg), but local to Ottawa people.
