Call display does not show area code

Post by bigfatalleycat »

Hi,
I have been using Fongo home phone with the supplied Grandstream adapter and all is working fine for a month now. The only issue I have is half the calls will not display the area code of the caller just the number. eg. 123-4567 instead of 123-123-4567 Is there a setting in the adapter for this?
Thanks

Hi there,

What is the firmware on your Fongo ATA?

Please have a look at the FAQ below:

Please try and let me know.

This could be a feature on your phone. Have you set your area code in the settings somewhere?

As a quick test, try using a different phone and see if it shows the full number.

Yes, area code is set on the phone.. Seems to happen to random numbers, mostly local but sometimes long distance. Makes it difficult to redial the number since the area code is missing. My wife has arthritis and has difficulty dialing.

So was there any resolution to this? This happens to me as well. Very random, and doesn't seem to happen to the same numbers all the time, but as the OP said, it makes it hard to redial the numbers if you don't know the area code. I think most are local, but that doesn't always mean the area code is the same.

I have seen this many times and it has always been related to the local area code being programmed directly into the phone.

From long distance calls however it is possible that their caller ID for outbound calls does not transmit the information.

So the recommendation is to remove the local area code from the phone set?
