Fax question

Post by ShaTR »

Although this may be technically 'unsupported', was hoping for any valuable input.

Is there any way to forward all fax's to voicemail whether i'm on the phone or otherwise?
If not, is this something fongo could possibly implement? Fax detection forwarded strait to VM? Or is it something that could be configured in my ATA or dial plan? (Cisco SPA-112)

TIA :)

I do not know if it is even technically possible for a SIP provider to forward a fax to voice mail. There are services that convert the fax to a pdf, and then mail you the PDF, but that would require infrastructure that I doubt Fongo possesses.

FYI, fongo does this already. If you let a fax ring through to voicemail, you can access it in PDF format via online account. And if you choose to forward voicemails to email, fax PDF's will also be forwarded.

My question is, how can i always make fax's forwarded to voicemail. Whether i'm on call or otherwise.

The only way to do that is to use a separate FPL account for inbound faxes and set it to "Always Forward to Email". You will receive your fax as a PDF attachment file.
