Key tones during calls
When I'm on a call with Fongo home phone I hear a tone as if someone is pressing a number on the phone about every 2 minutes or so, but its pretty random and sometimes more or less often. The person I'm talking to never hears it. Happens no matter which phone I use in the house. Any idea what to do about this?

If you have a Fongo home phone with HT701 Grandstream adapter, please see below:
The issue you are seeing is not caused by call waiting. The issue is called Talk-off DTMF tones generated for certain voice frequencies and it's caused by a faulty version of the firmware on the ATA.

This has been reported to Grandstream support and they are looking into it.
Reference Ticket Number: 20130521125407
As a temporary workaround, you can try to login into your HT701 Grandstream adapter and set the DTMF modes to RFC2833 (all 3 priorities)
Please try and let me know.

Re: Key tones during calls
I will try this. Also I see there is a firmware update available on the Grandstream website. Is it safe to update to 1.0.4.8? Maybe this will help with the problem

It is safe to upgrade to 1.0.48
I am afraid that the bug will still be present in that firmware version as well.
Let me know if there are any issues and I will assist.

Re: Key tones during calls
Changing the temporary workaround suggested above seems to have worked with no adverse side effects noticed yet
