ATA change after porting number
My number finished porting today for Fongo home phone but the ATA isn't receiving calls. Calling the ported number goes to Fongo voicemail. I got an email from Fongo with instructions but it basically just said to reboot the ATA. Do I have to change anything on the ATA? Other people on here seem to indicate you have to change a user name.

Re: ATA change after porting number
Yes, you need to log into the ATA and change your username from the temporary Fongo number to your ported number WITH the intial 1. Don't change the password though.

Yeah that worked. Fongo staff, you may want to tell people about this in the email sent once the porting is done since there is no way it would have worked otherwise

Re: ATA change after porting number
This has come up quite a few times, and they say that they do send out information about it.
I think there used to be something in their wiki, but I can find it now - and that isn't probably most people's first stops. There should certainly be something sent out with the notification of porting complete if there isn't already. Are you sure there isn't anything on the email you were sent? not even in really small print at the bottom. I seem to remember someone else saying they found it after, but way down the bottom of the email.
Anyway, glad it was sorted.

Re: ATA change after porting number
Here is the exact message they sent me after porting. Looks like it would be better suited to someone who is getting set up for the first time:
Dear Fongo Customer,
Your number porting is now complete. Please call your previous service provider to cancel your telephone service with them as we cannot do this on your behalf.
Please follow the instructions below to set up your Fongo Home Phone.
1. Turn off your computer and unplug your Broadband Router or DSL / Cable Modem.
2. Connect the Ethernet Cable to the Grandstream HT701 Analog Telephone Adapter (Phone Adapter). Then connect the other end of the Ethernet Cable to your router or modem.
3. Unplug the phone cable from your telephone wall jack and plug it into the phone port on the Phone Adapter.
4. Plug in your router or modem to power it back up. After a few moments, check that all the correct status indicators are lit.
5. You may now turn your computer back on and use it if you would like to (your computer does not need to be turned on in order to make or receive calls).
6. Connect the Power Adapter to the Phone Adapter. Then, plug the Power Adapter into a power outlet.
7. Wait for the PHONE light on the Phone Adapter to turn green (this can take up to 3 minutes). Pick up the phone receiver and ensure you hear a dial tone.
8. Remember to place the e911 Sticker on or near your phone to notify people of the limitations of e911 service in case of emergency.
Please contact us if you have any further questions.
Thank you
The Fongo Team

Well that email isn't really much use to you.
Maybe you were sent the wrong email.
It's a bit strange as to why you would need to turn your computer off though?

Re: ATA change after porting number
Yeah quite odd. Well hopefully some staff read this so they can correct their procedures.
