Cannot pass the pressed digit to receiver

Post by nov »

When I dialed to some customer service or banking call center which asking me input some number, I found the pressed number cannot be recognized by them. But it's ok when I called them with my cell phone (not VOIP).

I just wonder if I should change some settings about DTMF? Please help.

Currently using Obi110 as my ATA with default setting in FPL.

It will probably be your DTMF settings.
I don't have an Obi, but I did a quick search and it looks like the settings you want are in ITSP Profile A & B (General & SP Info Settings) Parameter (I could be wrong though, it's just what I see in the manual)

You can't do any harm by changing it to anything else, so just find the setting that works for you. You will probably find however that when you get it working for one system it will stop working on others.

The only other hing it might be is the tones are not being generated properly by your phone, but that is easily tested by if you can hear them or not :D

If I change the DTMF settings on my ATA, is it effect on fongo or receiver?

For my understanding, when I change the DTMF method, the digit signal will transfer to receiver side through fongo, which means fongo can recognize the digit first. Am I right?

BTW, changed to Inband make it works.

I can see the DTMF setting in VOIP.ms advance setting, but can not see it in FPL.

It will change the way that the tones are being sent. Maybe FPL can change it on the way through - I don't know.

From what I understand using inband will send the tones as 'noises' down the audio channels, where the other ones will send it over a different channel.

Personally I have 2 ATA's set up differently, so I if get a problem calling with one phone, I just change to the other.
