Display Name

I have a Linksys Pap2 ATA and my question deals with Line 1 tab (advanced view) for the Display Name. I assume this is what is seen by persons I am calling in their call display.
I have posted a picture of the area (coloured red) in question with all information removed. The settings has my phone number in that area.

What I want to know is that information (by default my phone number) required or can I change it to something more custom without affecting the service?

Hi there,

Sip user ID is your phone number and you cannot change that.

Please see below for your reference- I have noticed something wrong in your setup already

As long as you are setup as per the above, it will be no issues.

Display name- that should be your first and last name. For example John Smith or John S. Do not put John$% Smith.

I take it you are referring to the OB Proxy setting. Changed it. Funny though because this ATA was pre-configured by Freeploneline staff prior to initial use and I don't as a rule change anything other than the proxy and outbound proxy (changed from VOIP to VOIP2.freephoneline) as advised.

I thought about using the nickname I am known by instead of my actual name.

I have had some fun calling people with different things written in there...
