can't take voice mail when powered off
Hi, friends,
Why can't I take any voice mail when power off? In the past, when I didn't buy the ATA and unlock key, calls could go to my voice mail when I was off. Now, I just bought the unlock key and ATA. It is good when I power the ATA: voice mail can work if I don't pick up the phone. But if I don't power the ATA and leave home, no phone call can come in to my voice mail. Strange. I don't think it has anything to do with my setting. Any tip? Thanks!

Re: can't take voice mail when powered off
This is a know registration issue with Fongo/FPL home phone. It takes about 1 hour for the ATA to register when powered off.
A workaround is to forward your calls to the voicemail before you power off the ATA (dial *72 and your FPL phone number). When you power tha ATA on, dial *73 to cancel the call forwarding.

Oh, so. Thanks for your reply. Is FPL trying to work on its solution? I don't quite understand your saying "it takes about 1 hour for the ATA to register when powered off", as the ATA can't work after power off.
It's very nice of you, sir, anyway.

Can you please give an example of a Canadian VoIP provider where this feature works?
Just to summarize:
If ATA disconnected from power, both calls from FPL or other voip ++ PSTN should go to voicemail.
Related thread- see below:

If you can find a provider in Canada that has this working- that will be great.
I need to provide to dev team.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks. But I don't understand you. What feature you talk about working?
Yes, if FPL is ideal, incoming calls should go to voice mail if ATA Is disconnected. But in reality, no call can come in in the first hour when the ATA is disconnected. So I posted this question. Strange, isn't it? Do you experience the same "known issue"?
Thanks.

I am summarizing the issue again, so you can confirm that this is the problem.
If you disconnect the ATA from power, your goal is to have all incoming calls going to VM regardless if you call from pstn line or from FPL/other voip lines.
I can confirm that this is not working at the moment. Lustcru provided with a workaround and you can use that for now.

This was also discussed in the thread below:

A ticket has been opened with our service provider for this issue.
Can you also give me an example of a Canadian VoIP provider who has this functionality and it's working for them with no issues?
I need to provide that to the dev team.
I hope this clarifies now.
Thanks,

Re: can't take voice mail when powered off
Thanks, Fongo Support. Yes, I confirm the problem now: when I unplug the ATA, incoming calls don't go to VM or get any ring until 1 hour later, if I set the "registration expires 3600 seconds"; and incoming calls don't go to VM until about 10 minutes later, if I set the "registration expires 180 seconds which is the low end of your allowance. Strange. I would guess I can get to Voice Mail at most 180 seconds after unplugging if I set 180 seconds.
I now use Comwave service. They don't have any problem. If I unplug their ATA, calls can go to VM right away. Hope that can help you fix the problem, sir.

Thank you for letting me know.
Is it possible to send me a PM with your FPL account details (if you still have an account with us)
Thanks,

Sure. What does PM mean? Personal Messenger? Sorry for my question.
