If you are looking to use the Fongo service for free on your Iphone, you could always consider using the Fongo app for free

I think you are safe with a iphone 4 and up, though a 3 and 3GS would probably work also.

I am personally a fan of Koodo mobile due to not requiring a contract, but i cannot guarantee it is the cheapest.

Telus has a Flex Data Plan for Tablets that might suit you.

The rate is variable depending on your usage.
less than 10 MB is $5
10 MB to 100 MB is $10
100 MB to 1 GB is $20
1 GB to 3 GB is $35
1 GB to 5 GB is $50

Phone calls cost $1 a minute, so that is a big incentive to use VOIP.

You can use this SIM on any device, though you kind of have to be cagey with the Telus CSR. I told them I was going to use it on multiple devices, and they were OK with that.

As for a mobile phone, get one that can do LTE. That means no iphone. I say this because VOIP over 3G is spotty at the best of times.

bridonca, i appricate for your help. I almost decided to buy iPHONE, which is very expansive. But now you have shown me a new cheapest way that is "TABLET" can also do my Achievements, what i am looking for, that will be great news for me,.

I am little confure,

before i thought i have to go with iphone 4 or 5, to use fongo APP for calling purpose & more other futures.

But now i am getting confuse here, as bridonca saying to use TABLETS for "Flex Data Plan" with TELUS. So do you think TABLETS can also use like a CELL PHONE, to MAKE CALLS & RECEIVED CALLS by using Fongo APP. If yes then which Brand of TABLETs is good.

My exact aim is to make & received calls by using Internet on TABLET, IPOD or IPHONE. So now i am confuse, can i use TABLET just like a CELL PHONE, once i get internet on it, if yes then which Brand of TABLET i have to Buy.

I am trying to save Money as much as possible on Mobile Phone Calling futures etc.

Thanks

You can use the Telus tablet flex plan SIM card on a regular phone, as long as you program the correct APN setting into the phone. But if you get a tablet, that would be easier. Most tablets have Bluetooth, or a 3.5mm jack for a headset, so you can use it as an internet phone.

Not too many tablets have LTE except maybe the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, but that is pretty expensive.

I would see if I can get something like a Galaxy S3, and unlock it, and then use it with the Telus tablet flex plan SIM. You can get it on kijiji for about $300. I would strongly recommend you do not got on any contract longer than month to month, because you give up a lot of flexibility. There is no such think as a "free" phone, there are usually a $2000+ obligation that has to be settled in a 2 to 3 year period.

I think it is cheaper just to get a Rogers prepaid cell phone. Rogers currently has a $85 a year local evenings and weekends plan, which includes 100 daytime minutes for the year. All you need is a $100 prepaid card, a $5 Rogers SIM card, and a $20 rogers phone you can get on Kijiji. Hard to beat that, considering you do not have to pay for internet. http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wirel ... lydiscount

hi there, today i bought a Brand New Tablet, which shows this info below on the Box.
iVIEW-754TPC
CyberPad
7" Tablet PC
WiFi Dual Cam (Android 4.0)
512MB DDR3
Built-in WiFi

1)--I already own 2 FPL Numbers with 2 Unlock keys, which is working good on my PAP2T Adapter.

So out of this 2 Numbers, 1 Number I want to use on my TABLET.

I notice in my TABLET it is showing like this a)--Skype b)--Mobile Data c)--Mobile Network Configuration d)--Talk e)--Voice Search etc

But I don't know "How to do this Mobile App for FPL Unlock Key setup on TABLET". If any body know some steps, please let me know, how to setup.

So i want to start to setup "Fongo Android App" on this Tablet. If i am going out side then I go to McDonald & connect to WiFi over there & I want to make Calls. If i am connected to WiFi during this time i want to Received Calls also.

And i like to know is there TELUS etc will provide cheap WiFi for this Tablets or not.

So from where i have to start.

Thanks

You can download a program like CSipSimple from the play store, and use the Fongo SIP settings.

If you have a android phone, you can tether your phone to provide wifi from your data plan.

I do not know if McDonalds shapes the traffic to allow for SIP. If it does not work, McDonalds might be at fault.
