Wrong area code in the new phone number

Post by jaijai »

Hi,

I just registered for a free new IP phone#. I live in Ottawa, and I did find that you have Ottawa area code 613 available. But I did not get the correct 613 area code. Instead, I got a different area code 343 in the new phone number :( .

Can I change it to the 613 area code please?

Thanks!

Are you a Fongo Home Phone customer? or have you signed up for the Fongo App?

BTW, 343 is an overlay area code for 613 so they are essentially the same, it just doubles the amount of numbers. You will be seeing more and more of these numbers as the 613 numbers run out.

If you signed up via the Fongo APP, or the FPL desktop app, then you should be able to delete your account and start again. The trouble is I just had a quick look and they don't seem to have any 613 numbers for Ottawa. You could try selecting somewhere like Carleton Place or Kanata-Stittsville which will give you a 613 number, but you will have to see if either of these numbers will now become long distance to where you are.

I am a new user and still trying to get familiar with all of these...

I have the freephoneline desktop app installed. It seems the freephoneline desktop app is just a phone dial tool. Can I delete my account and restart again using it and how?

Thanks again

Log into freephoneline.ca and then click on the 'Account Settings' link at the top (https://www.freephoneline.ca/updateAccountDetails) Along side the 'current password' box you will see a delete link. Deleting your account will also delete any worldline credits, unlock keys, or porting you have done on the account.

This should allow you to start again.

Yes the FPL desktop account is just a phone on your computer using your speakers and mic. You can later buy the unlock key which will allow you to use an ATA and then a normal phone.
If you want to be able to text and make call on your cell phone, then head over to Fongo.com and sign up there.
