Linksys ATA router keeps disconnecting

Post by slayguy »

I just had my # ported over and made all adjustments on the router but the router keeps disconnecting. I'll make a few phone calls and then the router light is flashing orange, internet is green and phone 1 is blank. In order to get it to start working again I have to reboot the router. Any ideas on what may be wrong?

Thanks

Could be a number of things, might even find that it's overheating.
There are several Linksys ATAs could you do the following:

Give the Model
Give the Firmware
Take Screenshots of each setting page.

What are the voltage settings at presently? Makes sense to me if there's heat issue you may want to start by trying to reduce that slightly. (not saying that it is, I'm not an ATA guru... Just a network/hardware guy.)

Thanks Bloodsong. It's a linksys PAP2 and the firmware is 3.1.15(ls). I don't think it's an overheating issue as I can make or receive 2 calls and then it seems to be timing out. I'm thinking it must be a setting I need to adjust but I just don't know what. I changed the register expires field to 60 as someone had mentioned this fixed their similar issue earlier but am still getting the time out.

I upgraded the version I had on my router to Firmware Version: 5.1.6(LS) and it's been 12 hours without an issue, but still keeping my fingers crossed. Can others advise if they have the same version on their PAP2T's?

Thanks

I have the same ATA but when I try to download 5.1.6(LS) file from Cisco it errors out. If you still have the firmware file could you post it for anyone in the same position as I am in?
Thanks

which version of the firmware is most recommended?
I see many people using 5.1.6(LS) and some using 3.1.15(ls). What's the difference? any benefits from using one over the other?
I have 5.1.6(LS) on mine at the moment.
Just curious!

Thanks

Generally speaking version numbers are incremental based on bug fixes/feature additions etc.

So a stable version of the v5.x firmware should (generally speaking) be better than a stable verison of the v3.x firmware.

Main reasons for not upgrading your firmware:
Not having any issues as is
Old firmware has a feature that was removed
Not comfortable performing that level of technical procedure alone

Sometimes with new features in the new firmware you get different/new bugs as well thus why I refer to stable versions of firmware.
Unless you're really happy to be testing new stuff, make sure you don't get the bleeding-edge overnight releases ;)
