How To Record A DTMF Tone in Voicemail?

Post by hanke »

I was wondering if anyone would know how to record a DTMF on your Voicemail Greeting Message. I live in a condo and access is gained by the visitor punching in a code, which in turn rings my unit to which I enter a DTMF key of "9" which opens the door.

I would like to have this Tone recorded on my voicemail greeting such that if I ever forgot my door fob/key I could punch in my code for my unit, the system would dial my number, voicemail would answer and at the end of the voicemail message, the DTMF "9" would be heard and door would unlock.

I realize anyone calling, getting my voicemail would allow them access to the building but that would not be a major issue.

Currently whenever I tried to record the DTMF "9" it basically is not heard or filtered out of the voicemail greeting.

Thanks

Changing your DTMF type to INBAND and try again. This 'should' play the dtmf tone as audio rather than sending it in RTP packets that are out of the audio channel, which I suspect it is doing now.

edit* as a security installer for many years I would suggest this is creating a BIG security hole :), but it sounds like you know this already.

I guess the other thing you could try is playing the tone on a cell phone while on speaker next to the receiver of the phone that you are using to record the voicemail with.
