We live in Midland, ON which is not long distance to Penetang(uishene) on any other service provider. Penetang is in Fongo's list of free cities in Canada. We can make calls to Penetang no problem. The issue is when we or others try to contact our home from Penetang. They are told it is a long distance call and decide not to make it.
What could be causing this issue and will it ever be resolved?

What are the first 6 numbers of your phone number. The chances are it is not on a local exchange to Penetang

Re: Local calls are Long Distant for incoming caller
I don't think that is the problem. I should have mentioned that there are a few people we know in Penetang that don't get the long distance message. I've found that they are on Bell phone service. It seems that the ones having issues are on Rogers Home Phone.
The Penetang exchange is 705-549-XXXX
Ours is 705-540-XXXX

Ah OK, then the only thing to do is to ask the people who are getting the message to contact their phone company and tell them they are being charged for a local call. Sometime when new exchanges get added it takes a while for all the telcos to add them to the correct rate tables. Either it got missed, or added incorrectly.
For your information, these are all the numbers that will be able to call your number locally. http://www.localcallingguide.com/lprefi ... 5760&dir=2
Eventually the exchange should get added in correctly, but to speed things up just ask your friends to contact their telco (Rogers by the sounds of it) and it will probably get sorted out pretty quickly.
I should add that this isn't really something that Fongo can fix as it will be an error on the calling party's phone company end.
