Incoming calls for a while and then...

Post by madmot »

Hi, I'm new on Freephoneline and I'm totally new on Voip. But you know, I have some knoledge of networking.

I have this Linksys PAP2T (Firmware 3.1.15) with a Panasonic 6.0 plug in it. The whole thing is routed over a D-link Di-624 wireless router to the Videotron modem (ISP). Outgoing calls are not and issue at all. Quality is awesome, service is fast.

The problem here are the incoming calls. I've done my port fowarding like I use to know. Right know, I'm using port 5060. I even put the ATA on a DMZ to be sure it connects freely to the internet. The ATA is now password protected. I gave it a static IP adress. Incoming calls where ringing the phone at first. I went away for an hour and then my cellphone rang (my father) telling me that the calls where no longer going thru. So, it work for a while than something drop in the end. The call log says that it a normal call clearing (in the disconnect reason). If I use the softphone, there are no problem at all.

When I do some setting (port changing, Ip adress changing on router and ATA), I usually finally get it and it start working properly. But after a while, incoming calls no longer go thru. Between this time, my registration status is always online. The first settings I've done are the one you can find on the internet.

It seems to me that it would be the router. Should i reassing dynamic IP? Does anyone have the same issue? I never tried my ATA for a long period of time before. It's an all new thing to me and I know I could love it. I wondering if it can be a dropping issue. What does it do when, for example, you set register expires to 3600. Is this a count down? And what about Proxy Fallback intvit. And what are the control timer values settings in the regional tab?
I Use Pref Codec Only is set to No (G729a)

Here's my troubleshooting schedule:
- write this post on the forum.
- buy new router and keep receipt in case problem is not solve.
- Check with ISP (can it be the ISP fault?)
- Is there someone to PM?

Please help!

Thanks, M.

I had the exact same problem and found that putting the registration time to 60 fixed it for me.

I had a similar issue until I port forwarded the following ports 13000-13001 to my ATA

I currently forward the following to my ATA: 13000-13001,5060,5061,6060,6061,16384-16482 (im sure some are not necessary but it works this way so I dont care)

Madmot I had a similar issue as well and upgraded the firmware to the latest one and this fixed everything. Check out my thread as it has the latest firmware for PAP2 http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1077

Wow, that was over 8 months ago  Thanks for coming back and telling us it worked out though. Quite a few people had/have this problem, and setting the registration time to 60 cleared it for me also. Glad I was able to help, and it worked out for you.

I am experiencing a similar problem with my VOIP line for weeks.
I am using PAP2T with the latest firnware.
Also using Bell Internet service (Modem & router in one)
There is no problem with the outgoing calls at all. But all the incoming calls dropping in few second after I pick up the phone.
I have not received any support from Freephoneline. Based on what I hear, I should be a configuration issue. So, I have tried many different settings.
So far no luck......
I am at a point to switch to another service provider.

Please help if you can
Thanks in advance
