Can You Make "Seconds Until Voicemail" Longer?
Under "follow me " settings, there is a "Seconds until voice mail". Right now it only accept value from 2 to 30 seconds. I already put the maximum "30" in. However my answer machine is about 30 seconds to record too, so sometimes my voice mail go into email which I hope it goes to my voice box. It will be more useful if customers can have a wider range such as "2 - 45".

You can disable the voicemail to email functionality if you don't wish to use that portion of our voicemail.

Re: Can you make "Seconds until voicemail" wider?
I have the same issue as the OP. The answering machine on my Uniden phone system is set to 6 rings. The FPL voice mail kicks in just a little too soon and interferes with the message system on the Uniden phone. The Uniden phone allows for a customized message and setting the Uniden system to 4 rings is not convenient. It would be more useful if the FPL answering system range could be expanded past 30 seconds to say 42 seconds.

At present time we are not able to go any wider than 30 seconds as our voicemail is a mandatory feature.johnnyf wrote:I have the same issue as the OP. Why dont you just disable the Uniden answering machine and use the FPL voicemail?
The FPL Voicemail is better than a hardware answering machine because u can access it from anywhere outside PLUS it sends u email notifications.

I will have to agree with bluevenom on this one - Though, I am pretty bias.

I do not want to turn on a computer, download a au file and open media player. It takes 4~5 minutes for checking a 20 seconds message. Since I am using FPL as my home phone, i hope it can really work as a regular home phone. If the range number can not be modified, how can I disable the FPL voice mail function? Even if I set none to "enable voicemail to email", voice message still goes into FPL rather than my answer machine. That's pretty annoying!bluevenom wrote:

This forum is called suggestion box. WMHU and I suggest it would make for a much better user experience if the system went to 42 seconds. As WMHU stated it's much more convenient for the two of us and I'm sure many others when they're at home to use the phone system's device. When travelling or when at work, or if you are continually glued to the computer then it can be set to use the FPL voicemail function.

Just dial *98 from your phone, you don't need to turn on a computer and download the audio file each time.wmhu wrote:I do not want to turn on a computer, download a au file and open media player. We aren't able to disable voicemail or extend it's time past the default maximum. This is done to circumvent people from simply disabling it and loosing calls off our network. This then looses termination fees, which is the backbone to how we keep this service free.
I'd also like to add that we provide local numbers to most cities in Canada so that you may check your voice messages wherever you are without getting penalized with long distance fee's, by dialing this number and entering your phone number and password. You can get the full list of them here: http://www.freephoneline.ca/vmAccessNumbers

Like Steve said, If you dial *98 from any phone attached to your ATA you can access your voicemail. It takes 3 seconds, not 4-5 min.

I am locking this topic, since all you really need to know and most of the explanations are in the above posts.
