Voicemail changed
For some reason the FPL voicemail suddenly started to take calls before my local machine could.
For the sirst time since porting my landline number over I tried to open the softphone to edit my voicemail, and it will not let me in, probably because I changed my number.
Do I have to reinstall the entire program, or can I just edit an ini file somewhere?

Hey TSellers, not sure what you mean by it does not let you in for voicemail - Is it giving you an error?

Re: Voicemail changed
Thanks Kris,
I followed that link, but I do not see anything that relates specifically to my problem listed there.
My problem is FPL VOicemail is intercepting calls too soon, and I need to increase the delay time. It appears I can only achieve that via the softphone interface.
The softphone will not let me login at all, says invalid user settings or something.
I assume softphone is the only place you can edit your voicemail settings.
PS: I was rather suprised to see the statement:

It assumes that all hardware machines are created equal, we usually access it from afar, and that all FPL users have the same preferences for checking the voicemail. After considering it, I know in my own case my own hardware is preferable to dialng *xx and scrolling blind chronologically through messages. The FPL Voicemail is better than a hardware answering machine because u can access it from anywhere outside PLUS it sends u email notifications.

Re: Voicemail changed
What I gather you are trying to do is use your own hardware for voicemail, which was the main topic of that, well, topic.
With our voicemail you can either access it via the software phone, your account on freephoneline.ca, dialing *98 on a SIP device configured with a config file, or use one of the remove vm access numbers to dial in and avoid long distance charges.

Re: Voicemail changed
Thanks Kris,
Dialing *98 does not allow me to configure the time to voicemail setting, or maybe that setting is only via the follow me settings on the webpage?
If I turn of the follow me feature will that disable the FPL voicemail? If so then that will work for me.

Re: Voicemail changed
The question of getting softphone working again since porting my landline number to the account still remains outstanding.
Can I fix it by editing a config or ini file somewhere, or do I need to uninstall and reinstall it?
I know I won't be popular for saying it, but my dislike of the Voice Mail at 30 seconds is growing and I'd say at the moment after the dropped calls problem that would rank as my next pet peeve.

Yes, the seconds to voicemail can be changed on the FPL website under "Follow Me Settings"TSellers wrote:Thanks Kris,

No, you can not disable or turn off the FPL voicemail.

Re: Voicemail changed
I would try uninstalling/reinstalling it, if you were logged in at the time of port it may have corrupted some settings in there.
Uninstall > Go to Documents > Delete FreePhoneLine folder (has config and error logs in it) > Delete registry entries (If any, uninstaller should get rid of them).
Then reinstall.
