is it possible to block numbers from calling your line?
hey everyone,
just wondering - is it possible to block certain numbers from calling us with FPL? is there something you can put in the dial plan to prevent specific numbers from calling you? thanks!

Depending on how many numbers you want to block the easiest way is to go under the User Tab of your ATA, under the Selective Call Forward Settings ...col127 wrote:hey everyone,

Set it such that whenever the number calls he's forwarded to

I just tried that, pretty amusing...
We're implementing "Call Processing" in the near future (hopefully) which will enable you to reject, forward to voicemail, or forward to followme, based on the Caller-ID of the incoming call, time of day, or day itself.

Monkey sounds don't work for me for some reason. It just says call failed. I'm trying to call the number from x-lite. I can dial other sip URIs though...weird.

Re: is it possible to block numbers from calling your line?
Trying to get to the monkey business too... with an pap2t. The caller number gets recognized since it is somehow filtered but not forwarded in the appropriate way. If I have followme set to never, the call gets straight to my FFL voicemail. If it's set to "when unavailable", it gets forwarded to my followme number. The wanted to be filtered number is entered into the user1 tab, into "Cfwd Sel1 Caller:" as 5145551234, and in the "Cfwd Sel1 Dest:" box I entered *266300@sipbroker.com.
Btw, I also tried normal numbers into the Dest box with the same result. Am I doing anything wrong?
Thanks,
Charles

This is still on the long-term to-do list, but right now has many higher priorities ahead of it. Unfortunately we can't provide any sort of ETA at this time.new936 wrote:Any progress on this? I am tired of telemarketers calling at odd times!admin wrote:I just tried that, pretty amusing...

Re: is it possible to block numbers from calling your line?
Hi,
I am hoping this feature can be enabled soon.... I keep getting endless calls from 866-675-7438. (This is a pain in the butt scamming telemarketing group...."congrads you have won points, please press 1...etc" Lots of info on the net.)
It would be nice to be able to add these confirmed spammers to a list that is blocked from the switch side, to prevent this type of harassment. Regardless if your on the do not call list they still call.
Regards,
Ken

Re: is it possible to block numbers from calling your line?
If you're not using forwarding, but are using an ATA, you can send these calls directly to your voicemail (and they're usually not likely to leave a message). For example, on my Linksys PAP2T, on the user section we can enter the undesired phone# under the "Cfwd Sel1 Caller" box, then I believe for now, pretty much anything or nothing into the "Cfwd Sel1 Dest" box. The problem mentioned in this thread is the inability to actually forward to another number. But still we can forward to voicemail, and your phone won't ring beforehand.

Re: is it possible to block numbers from calling your line?
I just set it to forward back to the exact same number so it just puts them in a loop.. depending on their system it might just give them a busy signal

Re: is it possible to block numbers from calling your line?
Hey guys, got hit with an anonymous fax call late at night. Not good.
Did some digging and there is also a " Block ANC Act Code:" setting in Regional. My PAP2T settings were default, and set to *77
This function is designed to Block all anonymous calls that do not contain caller ID info. That coupled with selective call forwarding (sending to vmail with no data in Cfwd SelX Dest) this gives me room for another 8 offenders.
Not certain if this works for name display data, and if so whether it's case sensitive, but so far no repeats and no ATAs ripped out of the wall.
PS: Would really love to have a phone number white/blacklist at the website level. I would pay a one-time fee to have this enabled.

jtronforce ... I have the "Block ANC Act Code:" set to *77 (this was the default). Still getting calls with no caller id information. Do I need to activate it somehow? Thanks in advance.

I would love to have this paid feature too. But some idiots will complain this as a hidden fee and FPL is not truly a free service.jtronforce wrote:

Why not have a survey about this. All those in favor raise your hand.
Mine is way up.
FPL could advertise it as an optional service. Just $5,00 additional is not too much and that would help FPL in developping their network wider and faster.
