SIP for the wrong phone number
I have applied to transfer my current phone number to FPL and paid for SIP. I thought the SIP would be applied to the number I am transferring (Honestly, to me, the logic is that if someone applies to transfer phone number and SIP at the same time, he/she wants to continue to use that phone number with the SIP instead of the phone number newly assigned by FPL). However, I was wrong. FPL set the SIP to the assigned number which I do not want to use. Maybe I did not look at the details carefully and should wait until the port is done successfully and then paid for SIP. For the moment, I am just wondering what I could do? Please give me some advice (I simply need the SIP to be switched to the ported phone number). Thanks!

Once your port completes, the number provided by FPL will be replaced with your ported number. The SIP purchase is based on the account, and an account can only have 1 associated phone number.

Thanks Twinkie, do you happen to know whether they will set me another username or not because the current one is based on the current phone number assigned by FPL? Once the porting is successful, will FPL reset my username again based on the ported number?

Yes, your username will always be your phone number. It will either be a FPL number, or your ported number if that is what you do. You will have to change this inside your ATA once the port is done otherwise you will find everything stops working.

Thanks Jake. I am currently assigned a username of FPL number. How do I change it inside ATA once the porting is completed because it is different numbers, unless FPL sends me another username using the ported number?

How you change the username (account number) inside your ATA will depend on what ATA you have. Do you currently have an ATA set up and working with your SIP information?
Once FPL ports in your number they should send you an email saying so. You will then just have to go into your ATA and change your username (current FPL number) to your ported number and it should work again. Sometimes you may have to power down the unit for 5-10 minutes to allow the settings and accounts to sort themselves out ATA and server side, but normally you will find as soon as you change it the ATA will kick in again.
