Asterisk Outgoing caller id

Post by rainB0yrider »

Hello,

I just setup my freephoneline sip account on my asterisk server at home for learning. So far, everything seem to be ok. But, I thing I tried to change but does not work.
For outgoing call, can you change or hide the number. Instead of showing freephoneline, I would like to show another number/or block the caller id.

I did many tests but without succes. :?:

Any idea or advice

Thank's a lot.

FPL will overwrite anything you put in there and it will always send the phone number. You can change the name (which FPL will pass along) but not all phone companies will take this as gospel and will just use the phone number. Inter-network calls (IE calls to FPL or Fongo numbers) will carry on the name that you put there.

In Asterisk there are several places where you can set/change the cnam. You can normally set it on the extensions and the trunks. If you are changing it, make sure it is not being overwritten by another setting. But again, you will only really see a change when you call another FPL/Fongo number.

Thank's for quick reply.

If I understand well ...so that's mean there a no way to modify/or block outgoing clid or cname when I am calling from my home asterisk server using freephoneline sip trunk to any other line then fongo/freephoneline

Correct. You will probably find that you can block your number when calling inter-network numbers, but when going outside the network they will always pass along your number.
