Phone numbers identification in Control Panel.

Post by marginal »

Why don't we see the names of the calling persons?
Now we see only the phone numbers.
If this is not possible for the moment, why at least, don't the programmers make only our phone numbers to appear something like "Me" or "My Own" or something like that, so we don't have to read all the phone number in order to understand it is us there?

Thanks.

Hello marginal:

This is not fault of the programmer, when a person is making a call from SIP to SIP they can see their own name, nick name, phone, etc but when there is a call from SIP to PSTN is much different, the reason is the regular POTS provider have a data base with all the information of the client saved and normally they will only display your number, but when we are talking about Voip it does not matter.

Besides both of them are different technologies, however this scenario is very common, I hope have giving you a proper answer if not please let me know :D

Thank you for your reply Winston.
But can't the programmers make the software convert my phone number in a word?
I believe they can.
I think it has to be a command, when my phone number appears somewhere, the software converts it to a word.

Thanks.

Right now the web control panel pulls the numbers right from our server call logs, which are all numerical form. I'm sure that some sort of overlay could be put on allowing the web UI to replace a number with a word, but I'd have to pass the suggestion along and see what sort of feedback it gets as to weather we would do this in future or not.
