Voicemail Deleted

Hi all

I noticed that after I delete a message from the voicemail my phone continues to tell me there is a voicemail message. One of the lights on the adapter seems to agree with what my phone is telling me as it flashes as well. Can someone tell me how long it takes for the voicemail system to clear delete messages so that I don't have to keep dialing on only to find there is no message. Right now the only way I can stop my hone from telling me there is a voicemail is to pull the power cord off the adapter which seems to reset this problem until the message voicemail arrives then it starts all over again.
