help cant receive incoming calls

Post by davec2861 »

I have a Lincsys SPA 2102 router and cant seem to get incoming calls. When someone calls the number they get the message that there is no service at this number. Outgoing calls work fine. If the router is reset, I can receive incoming calls for a bit (maybe an hour) then it goes back to the same thing. I thought I had set the router up right. Any ideas what I am missing?
Any help would be appreciated

Port forwarding done? or are you using the SPA before your internet router?

One another note: What does your network setup look like? From the DSL / Cable coming into your house, where does it go.

1. Wall > Modem > SPA2102 (router) > Computer
2. Wall > Modem > SPA2102 > Router > Computer
3. Wall > Modem > SPA2102 > Switch > Computers

If it's #1, make sure your SPA is set up correctly as a router as well as an ATA.

If it's #2, make sure DHCP is turned off on the SPA2102, because the issue you're having sounds very much like a DHCP conflict between two routers.

If it's #3, you technically shouldn't have a problem, just make sure you follow the same steps as you did for #1.

to be safe, forward UDP ports 5060-6061 and 10000-20000. That covers all common SIP and RTP ports.

I tried fowarding the ports but that didn' t work. I put the voip router in front of the main router and it seems to work fine. I will leave it this way
thanks
